Roger Cook admits that joining Hell's Kitchen was not necessarily a natural choice for him but he couldn't resist given his appropriate surname.
"If you're called Cook and you're a foodie you can't really resist it can you? I thought the opportunity to learn from the master would be well worth it," he explains.
Known as a tough investigative journalist who always gets his story on screen, Roger is looking forward to facing Gordon in the kitchen:
"I'm having to unlearn bad habits. He was kind enough to say that I'd got very good knife skills. He's trying to encourage us now. If we're looking like we are letting the side down I would imagine he will be much louder!"
Roger fronted the most popular current affairs programme of it's time, The Cook Report, which saw him in pursuit of crooks and conmen. Many of his exposes resulted in major changes in the law and successful police prosecutions. Roger is currently working on a number of projects, including further Cook Report Specials.
Rogers eaten all sorts of things whilst travelling the world working included the dreaded I'm A Celebrity jungle treat witchety grubs, but the one food he avoids is offal.
"I prefer not to eat offal. Where I grew up meat was cheap and offal was pet food", he stresses.
Roger may be used to putting the pressure on others but when tables are turned will he be able to hack it in Hell's Kitchen? |
