Ex-Tory MP Edwina Currie swapped parliament for broadcasting and writing after the 1997 General Election, when Labour swept to power. Her outspoken views and enthusiasm has seen her move seamlessly into broadcasting, where she is currently presenting BBC Radio 5 Live's Late Night Currie.
Edwina's decision to take part in Hell's Kitchen was an opportunity to treat her husband JJ, who is a chef and loves to cook for his wife.
"I'm not usually allowed to cook! I'm married to a chef!" she says.
"JJ said once 'You could help; do the salad'. So I started chopping tomatoes and he said, 'No no no that's not the way you slice a tomato' - so first thing I'll do though when I get out is give him a tutorial and show him how to slice a tomato!"
We all know that Edwina can be outspoken but will she plan on holding her tongue when around Gordon?
"He's a scary monster but a serious teacher and passionate lover of good food. I'm going to do my level best to learn as much as I can. Every step of the way will be a joy." |
