SAGITTARIUS (the archer)

• This sign endows great mental ability on its subjects, enabling them to bring their reason to bear upon everything they behold.
• He is stimulated when in the process of exploring and digging down to the bottom of things, condensing them to the simplest terms.
• His mental vigor never tires; his curiosity is rarely satisfied.
• This man is a formidable antagonist, foolish objections and suggestions are met with little mercy from him, for he has an intuition that allows him to seek out his adversary's weakest point, and once this has been accomplished, he knows exactly what actions are called for. This tendency can lead him successfully into the legal profession, literature and journalism.
• Hobbies normally take the Sagittarian male outside; golf, fishing and football all appeal, for he revels in the open-air and stale rooms or stuffy atmospheres are quite uncongenial to him.
• He is the truth-seeker, and his probing mind may often offend some of his friends, for the more they hide the more persistent he becomes.
• In childhood, it is most difficult to handle, restraint produces in him resentment and rebellion, as his love of freedom is well-developed and as a rule will stay with him throughout life.
• A man who is forever trying to learn comes constantly in touch with his fellow man and a lonely Sagittarian is rare indeed.
• His characteristic frankness and outspoken manner are carried through to his friendships and love attachments, but in the latter, this tendency is likely to cause trouble rather than dispel it, for above all, he is an honest man, even where it can hurt deeply.
• Mr. Sagittarius admits to having loved before and will normally go on to add that no doubt he will love again; the female concerned should either accept probably disloyalty or forget him.
• This man should ideally choose a partner on the same mental plane as himself without ignoring the question of temperament and character; instead, he is usually attracted to glamour alone, although he will soon come to realize that any female who is put up with him for life will need far more than a pretty face.
• Once this character has been disappointed or hurt in love, he can react by forming relationships with females who cannot threaten his freedom and married women may become a hard to break habit with him.
• No female can take this man and shut him away for herself, but if she insists, while appearing to succumb to her wishes, he will in truth either look around for a more open-minded companion or hurl sarcasm at her until all that is left of their union is a shaky physical relationship, soon to die. He needs someone in sympathy with his desire to communicate and flirt, someone who is as wide awake as he is himself.
• Many men born under this sign shun marriage completely, for the love of being their own master is powerful, but once mated suitably he can be happy and children will adore a father who is in possession of so much spirit and love of adventure.
• His career may bring him much success for this is a lucky man and one who can bring success out of failure time and time again. This, together with his charm and gift for clever conversation, can take him far.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HIGHER FEMALE

• The same dangers that threaten the male confront the female of this sign.
• Her frank, open ways are often misconstrued, for the friendship she offers is frequently taken for love, and although her need of freedom and honestly can initially attract the male sex, this attraction will only last until they realize she cannot be changed.
• As a rule, when facing a crisis brought about in this way, she can adapt and has a happy knack of turning the situation into a joke, one which the hurt suitor can appreciate and which soothes his damaged pride. Unfortunately, should this situation recur often, Miss Sagittarius may eventually find difficulty in allowing her true self to show and, like her male counterpart, could resort to relationships which cannot tie her.
• She needs a man who will not take offense every time she smiles or dances with another, a special kind of man who can love enough to allow her to be herself and not try to possess her body and soul.
• When the man and time are right, she is capable of becoming a devoted mother, one who will behave more as a big sister to the children, and because of this a close bond could exist between them all.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE LOWER TYPE

• In this individual, the love of freedom will become distorted, and he will be boorish or rude to any female whom he regards as his equal and, therefore, a threat to his liberty. Such a man behaves in an over-familiar and liberty-taking manner with those he considers unable to trap him.
• Because of his absorption in the present, loyalty and faithful companionship are alien to him. One result of this is a lack of consideration of others; reputation means nothing to him, neither his own nor his fellow creatures', and these tendencies may lead to a complete lack of moral behavior and to the suffering of may who cross his path. The danger, however, is sometimes minimized due to this subject's transparency - only those who wish to be deceived are his victims, for the absence of complex emotion and total laack of jealousy can be relied upon to give him away. Add to this the inability to lie successfully, and you have a pretty obvious male.
• This sign of the truth-seeker and even this lower type cannot deceive convincingly.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

• The Sagittarian is recognized by his well-shaped head ad breadth of forehead; his frank and open manner; quick movements and vigorous gestures.
• Although expressive, a lack of grace is evident bordering on clumsiness.
• The eyes are bright, twinkling with fun, and observant, taking in all at a glance.
• Two types are characteristic to this sign, one tall and athletic, commanding in stature, the second short, broad shouldered and thick-set, growing fat in old age.
• The true subject is restless and unable to keep still.
• There is a disregard of convention, much self-confidence and an ability to be conspicuous.
• Their health is good, with the exception of over-activity reacting on nerves. A typical feature is an unusually long thigh bone.
