TAURUS (the bull)

• Venus inspires in her subjects a love of the arts, poetry, music and painting, and a true Taurean shows a keen interest in at least one of these.
• The basic characteristics are stability of character and of purpose, a steadfast mind unshaken by adversity, and quiet persistence in the face of difficulties.
• He will not be hustled or bullied into a false position.
• He excels in work requiring a true sense of proportion for he is able to appreciate the value of method, order, and system.
• He displays a constructive ability, especially in the foundations and beginnings of enterprise.
• He works best when inspired by the love of others or when spurned on by necessity for he has a deep horror of debt, and so he shows much care in the administration of his affairs.
• Although obedience can come easily to this man, when constantly nagged or goaded, he will make a stand and his occasional outburst of anger is sufficiently vehement to cause considerable consternation to those who have aroused him.
• His dreams rarely lose touch with reality and he generally knows not only where he stands but where others stand also, he will see through false claims and exaggerations of more excitable types.
• He is exceptionally capable of faithful and enduring affection. His loyalty can survive rebuff or neglect.
• Love for him begins early and goes on into late life.
• The earth in him evokes a strong craving for the physical presence of his loved one and any pretext may be taken that will bring him into contact with the object of his affections; the onlooker may scorn, the adored one may grow restive but his steady pursuit goes on until it ends in victory or defeat.
• If a rival should triumph, a certain amount of philosophy comes to the rescue and disappointment is accepted without too much bitterness, for Taureans are rarely hampered by pride though frequently by shyness and self-consciousness. If the chase is successful, it is usually followed by a happy marriage.
• His chief fault is generally one of obstinancy for no one is more stubborn than a Taurean with his heels well and truly dug in.
• Sexually, this male would be classified as over-active and in some cases as downright lustful. Mental stimulation is not a necessity with him for he is always ready to oblige at any given time, and though inconsistent with the rest of the personality, underneath the earthy exterior there is a distinctly romantic streak.
• Providing his partner is able to keep his needs satisfied in bed and can cope with the demands of his insatiable stomach, then she will find her reward in a contented and happy man who can overlook many of her faults.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HIGHER FEMALE

• The female Taurean will share many of the characteristics of the male half of the sign. Both are strongly attracted by two things; the opposite sex and food, and each of these is over-indulged in on occasions.
• Gardening is a hobby often associated with Taurus, it relaxes and allows the subject to escape problems for a while.
• This female makes an excellent wife, shining in homemaking, hostessing, and mothering; children are welcomed and are never worn out by fussy attention, constant supervision, or correction.
• Miss Taurus does, however, seem to suffer from a deep-rooted fear of financial debt and one eye is continually kept on the search for her comforts and needs.
• Her sexual inclinations match those of Mr. Taurus.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE LOWER TYPE

• This character keeps his good points well out of sight and often by trying to save himself trouble, he creates even more.
• Excess vitality is bottled-up instead of flowing out freely to help others, for he or she is essentially self-centered and quite incapable of seeing anyone else's point of view.
• The normally splendid Taurean persistence shows itself in obstinancy and pig-headedness.
• Tranquility is distorted into laziness and sloth, and the solidity of his higher brother finds outlet here in a foolish dislike of change, for he is over-cautious and deliberate.
• Financial ability changes into a materialistic view of life and a female of this kind is capable of making a mercenary marriage.
• The desires of the preverted or unbalanced subject are purely self-centered and no thought is ever given to the partner's wants and needs.
• This man can leave behind him a string of frustrated women and never realize it.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

• Well-proportioned, built to a generous scale, the lower type being prone to gross overweight.
• The voice is musical, the mouth sensual with a protruding lower lip.
• A sense of humor is clear, and although the joke may take some time in evolving, it is usually a genuine achievement even though it will be distinguished for its breadth rather than its depth.
• His natural vitality, always excessive, should be used constructively; otherwise, it may consume itself and develop into morbidity.
• Dangers to health are laziness and self-indulgence, to which may be added sensuality, gluttony, and drunkenness.
• In games of early life, football is likely to be a favorite, singing is also found to be a congenial exercise.
• Throat problems are vey common in this sign, causing much irritation, and probably striking when the subject is run down.
