VIRGO (the virgin)

• This individual's chief asset is a splendid power of discrimination. Everything is analyzed, sifted or classified, and this characteristic serves well in his chosen profession for he recognizes at a glance the potential value of others and puts them to work accordingly.
• Accuracy and method are very important and his careful way with finance can lead to success in the position of banker, accountant or any other occupation where an eye for monetary affairs is needed.
• It is unlikely, however, that he will ever advance far in a situation where authority is concerned for this would entail issuing commands, and when this type attempts to order others around he often gives unintentional offense.
• Many Virgo men are found in the background of things, usually working harder than any of their colleagues.
• He applies himself efficiently, but quietly, taking in even the smallest details.
• It is, sadly, quite normal for him to be passed over when praise and appreciation are handed out, for his more extrovert partners may take the credit due to him: in fact, he may appear forever doomed to work without sufficient reward or recognition.
• Mr. Virgo gives freely of his time and energy but, nevertheless, there is a limit to his generosity; he senses when demands are excessive and then he will know exactly how to say no and stick to it.
• This type is rarely lavish with affection or praise and the wary eye that he keeps on expenditure originates from a fear of dependence on others. Because of this, he lives simply and frugally, and even though extreme wealth may be his, he will still continue to spend wisely and carefully.
• Love never comes easily to this man; it takes much to melt his heart, but once committed, he revels in devoting himself faithfully and loyally to his partner.
• Neither the male nor female of this sign is over-fond of children, but once they arrive their every need is satisfied, for the Virgo parent wishes to be as perfect in this direction as in all others.
• Many of his friends will find him too pure and reticent in discussing his sex life or problems with them.
• His family and loved ones may maintain that this man is hard to live with and they could be correct: his tendency to play the critic, plus the tight rein he keeps on finances, will not make for an easy life.
• His standards are high morally and in every other way, and unfortunately - and perhaps unfairly - he expects others to live up to the rules he makes and lives by himself.
• He has a strong desire to devote himself to serving others but this does not make him a sexual animal.
• His partner will need to be a kind and understanding woman, for often he will be thought cold and sexless.
• Although this is not necessarily true, sex does not occupy a high position on his list and it is difficult for him to express his love verbally. Rather, his love reveals itself in his day-to-day small, thoughtful actions, his presence of mind in a crisis and in his loving care given when loved ones are ill.
• No other type can so efficiently tend and care for others as the Virgo male or female.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HIGHER FEMALE

• This woman usually displays a skill of handicraft, finding a use for the most unlikely things; and she is generally considered to be quite ingenious.
• Her dress sense leans towards a good but simple style often verging on the puritanical.
• She is intelligent and critical of others, including herself.
• This is no domestic animal, for her career is important and useful. To spend each day in a purely domestic role would prove detrimental and uncongenial to her, and although her children will be well loved and cared for, they will not be her entire life or existence; she needs more to stimulate her intelligence.
• The desire to serve and tend others leads many of this type into the medical profession.
• This woman's more adaptable friends may call her a prude for she has high standards and may appear to others narrow-minded and very fixed in what she believes to be right or wrong sexually.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE LOWER TYPE

• This person will be impossible to please, he rarely advances in any field of activity as his eye can inevitably find all the flaws and impossibilities, but rarely the possibilities or opportunities in a venture, and although he may destroy ideas and situations he cannot offer suitable alternatives. Because of this tendency, failure is a regular companion of his.
• He tends to blame prevailing circumstances for his downfall rather than accept that it is he himself who is at fault.
• Friends need to be pretty resilient to put up with him; his effect on them can too often be one of depression.
• Sexually, he finds difficulty in recognizing or accepting anyone as being good enough for him; his critical eye destroying passion before it has had a chance to flower.
• When badly perverted, he becomes masochistic.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

• A wiry build is associated with this sign; and he is usually strong and capable of enduring long hours of work and physical fatigue.
• Often the features are irregular and dependent for their beauty on their expression.
• The eyes are bright and intelligent, the nose heavy.
• It is common for the female to be a late developer.
• In health, this is a very strong sign, illness when it occurs is brought on mostly by overwork and too much absorption in practical matters.
• Serious illness is rare for he exercises regularly and is fastidious and fussy with his food, taking great care over its preparation.
