Commander Pavel Chekov Navigation Officer, USS Enterprise The young Russian Ensign Pavel Chekhov was assigned to the USS Enterprise under Kirk's command at an early point in the ship's 5-year mission. Chekhov was assigned as the Enterprise's navigator and worked along side Sulu on the bridge. Chekhov was another crewmember to stick with the Enterprise during her refit and the mission involving V'ger. Years later, Chekhov had been promoted up to Commander and was assigned to the USS Reliant as first officer. When the Reliant was scouting planets to use for Project Genesis, they stumbled upon Kahn Noonian Singh on Ceti Alpha 6. Kahn took control over Chekhov and the Reliant's Captain and used them to get himself and his people off the planet. Kahn left Chekhov on Regula 1 where he was rescued by Kirk and the Enterprise. Chekhov stayed with Kirk throughout the remainder of his Starfleet career. Chekhov was also present at the launch of the Enterprise-B where Kirk was pronounced missing and dead after a rescue mission. images:
