Captain James T. Kirk Commanding Officer, USS Enterprise Kirk, born and raised in Iowa on earth, is one of Starfleet's most honored and well-known Captains. Kirk was responsible for a historic 5-year mission as Captain of the USS Enterprise, in which he encountered countless alien life forms and strange phenomena. At the end of his tour of duty on the Enterprise, Kirk was promoted to Admiral and taken off the ship so it could be refitted and given to a new commanding officer. But Kirk stepped back into the Captain's chair suddenly and commanded the Enterprise and her crew to help protect earth from V'ger. Kirk also combated the superhuman Khan Noonian Singh on more than one occassion. Kirk had a reputation for being a rebel and going against Starfleet Command, as he did when he stole the Enterprise from spacedock to rescue Spock on the Genesis planet and also destroyed the ship to prevent it from being taken by the klingons. Kirk was demoted from Admiral to Captain and placed in command of a new Enterprise-A which was instrumental in the first peace tready between the klingons and the Federation. Kirk was presumed dead when the Enterprise-B was destroyed on its maiden voyage. But he was sucked into the mysterious nexus, where he remained until Jean-Luc Picard convinced him to stop Soran on Veridian III. Kirk sacrificed his life to stop Soran's plan. images:
