News and Activities at the Studio
HAPPY NEW YEAR! We've had a furry busy and exciting time fur the last couple of months! As mew all know, most of our memfurs are in the tap dancing classes, and we all got so good in two years of classes and purrformances, we are opening tonight in the Old-Timey Tap Dance Review! It's a really big show, too, and we are haffing the bestest time! Mew will find the link under Spotlight, below.
As mew noticed in these last few weeks, some of the other classes fell off a bit because we were all in dress rehearsals fur the show. We ended up using all the studios fur final rehearsals, so we could work on things like costume changes in between numbers and how long they took and who was late .... errr.... needed help wif stripey stockins or lost their hats at the last minute. But efury kitty got in the groove, made it to the right chorus line and came thru like a star! We was so proud!
Now we will get all our classes back on a regular schedule. Yes, efen the Polka class, if mew kitties will purrlease! try not to poke any holes in the new floor in there. When Spring comes, we might schedule that one outside in the sunshine. We're also gonna haff special classes in the Salsa in Latin Dance, brush up on our Flamenco, and learn to do the Conga wiffout accidently dancing out the door and down the street. Circle, kitties, Circle! like we was screamin .... err.... sweetly advising before.
When we all get calmed down after the show, the boys will be enjoying the advanced class in Scottish Highland in Folk Dancing, and the girls in Ballet will be purrparing fur a ballet purrduction later in the year. So girls, if mew gained a few ounces ofur the holidays, now's the time to start working dem off!
Just check the schedule fur any classes mew want to take. We haff just the right class fur efurykitty, so let's dance!
Our Basic Infurmation:
Any kitty can apply fur membership in the dance studio, it's easy! Just send us an email here to apply, and we will enroll mew and send mew a memfurship card.

Our memfurs take as many or as few classes as they want to, and can use the studio fur practice any time. They can also attend dance nights and bring a guest. Okay dancers, it's SHOWTIME!
The Old-Timey Tap Dance Show

We expect a new shipment of tap dancing canes any day now, we just can't imagine where some of dem went to during rehearsals! Also, our cobbler kitty will be in the shoppe efury Tuesday to put new taps on tap shoes.

Kitties Onstage: That's Entertainment
All of us kitties know about entertainment. It's one of the things we like best and do furry well. Nothing is more entertaining dan a kitty who can dance. At least, dat's what my mom always said. But we all entertain our humans, whether it's by funny acrobatics or just looking adorable while we takes a nap. I can do dat one real good. Mew might say it's somethin dat comes naturally to us.
Mostly, entertaining is the same thing as showing off. Dat's why, when a bunch of us gets togeffur to dance and entertain, it's called a Show. And dat's what we haff done in the studio. The only difference is dat we practiced (ooohh myyyy, did we practice!) and rehearsed (wowies, did we efur rehearse!) and learned to dance and sing all in purrfect time wiff each offur. Mew think dat's purrty amazing fur kitties? I do.
We learned a lot, like all kicking in the same direction so nokitty goes "ouch". Like not losing our hats during the intro to a number we needs dem in. Like tucking fluffy tails into stripey leotards. Good thing dem liddle skirts are full an puffy, huh? Like trying not to drop a cane onstage in front of the girls' chorus as dey comes out dancing in high heels.
We learned it's good to sing togeffur as a chorus, cuz den if anykitty furgets the words it won't be noticed. Long as we keeps moving our mouffs. Mostly we learned what show biz is all about. Working togeffur and in step so dat efurry single one of us does good to make all the offurs look good, too. Dat works in class, onstage, and even in life. Dat's show biz.
In short, we haff become pros. Now we know how furry good we can be all togeffur, as the studio opens our Old-Timey Tap Dance Show, and isn't it fun! Kitties, we are not only entertainers, now we are stars!

Movie Review: Gypsy
by Phelicity
The movie Gypsy is not about gypsies, it's about a mama named Rose. She had two daughters, June and Louise, and she spent lotsa years teaching dem to be purrformers on the stage. Dey did lotsa funny and entertaining song and dance numbers as childrens, but nothin worked out too good. June didn't wanna be on the stage, so she got married young and ran away. Louise didn't wanna be, eiffur, until she accidently discofured burlesque when she grew up.
Her mama suddenly noticed when she dressed Louise up to do her furst burlesque number in an elegant gown, and Louise took to it like a pro. Her fafurite song number was Let Me Entertain You, an she finally did enjoy entertaining.
The ladies who danced in burlesque were purrty showy, and had furry liddle bitty costumes dat wasn't made well enuff to stay on too good. Mew might wanna cover yer eyes. One of dem played a trumpet in her number, and mew might wanna cover yer ears. But dey all had such beautipurr fancy feathered head-dresses! I sure liked dem, mew will too.
Louise was different, kinda more classy, and she became a famous stripper called Gypsy Rose Lee. In her day, dat was mostly lotsa illusion, somethin dat movies doesn't haff much of any more and I wish dey did. But still, if mew girls watch dis movie wiff yer brofur, mew might wanna bring a hankie to cover his eyes.
It's a wonderpurr feel-good movie, and is sure to leaf mew wiff a big smilie, specially at the end when Mama Rose, played by Rosalind Russell, does her own big number. She was the one wiff the talent and drive to be a big star, but she nefur tried to fur herself. She made me wanna get on the stage to sing and dance myself. So dat's what I did.
