[ Name Our Mascot ] [ T-shirt Contest ] [ Mini-Poster Contest ] [ Home-Made Figures Contest ] Our mascot for The Gathering 2000: Orlando is a Panthergoyle, based on the Florida Panther. The Florida Panther is one of the United States' most endangered animals. If you don't know what a Florida Panther looks like, you can see one at The Gathering 2000. We will be visited by a real Florida Panther, thanks to Wildlife Rescue, Inc. Bert Wahl, a big cat expert will be at the Gathering with a real panther. You'll be able to touch the cat, ask questions, and have your picture taken with this magnificent creature. If you can give us the perfect name for our Gathering 2000 mascot, you can win free admission into the convention. You may submit as many names as you would like. Name Our Mascot

All you artists out there, get out your pen and paper, here's your chance to design The Gathering 2000 convention t-shirt! Not only will you see everyone wearing a t-shirt of your design, you will also win a free t-shirt compliments of the convention. T-shirt Contest
The theme for The Gathering 2000 is "Avalon." The idea for Avalon is based on Disney's Showcase of Nations at EPCOT Center. In the Showcase are many of the same nations that Goliath, Angela, Elisa, and Bronx visited on the Avalon Adventures. You can visit Great Britain, France, Norway, Japan, Canada, and Mexico (which has a massive reconstruction of a Mayan Pyramid, just like the one in "The Green" based in Guatemala). You can reach any of these locations in EPCOT by magic skiff, for in the center of the showcase is a lagoon.
You can base your designs on the theme of "Avalon", either the Gargoyles or EPCOT versions, or your can use our G2K mascot. We ask that you do not directly use Disney's characters. They are under copyright of Buena Vista Television and The Walt Disney Company and we cannot reproduce their characters without permission.
Additionally, to ensure shirts can be efficiently printed, designs may only utilize a maximum of four (4) colors. Other than that, the sky's the limit.
Entries should be submitted by e-mail. The deadline for all entries is April 31, 2000.
A contest that was a great success at G99, and which will be returning in 2000, is the Mini-Poster Contest. These posters will be printed, at no cost to the artist, and sold at the convention. The artist will receive a percentage of the money raised from the sales of their poster. Out of all the entries, only a limited number will be made into posters. Mini-Poster Contest

Entries should be submitted by e-mail. The deadline for entries is May 31, 2000.
Introducing a new contest for G2K: the Home-Made Action Figures Contest. As we all know, Kenner didn't produce nearly enough figures for Gargoyles... and we would like to see what you can come up with. Home-Made Action Figures Contest
The process is quite simple. Take an existing action figure, repaint it, add a tail and wings, give him a weapon, and you have a home-made figure. There is no restriction on what characters you can make. You can create a character from the show, whether they be gargoyle, human, or fey. Or you can make a figure from a fan fiction. We will have separate categories for figures based on the TV show and those based on fan fictions. We ask that if you make a figure from a fan fiction, that you provide a picture of the character for comparison.
Here's the catch. You must add on to an existing action figure. If you sculpt a new figure from scratch, that is considered a sculpture, and would best be entered into the art show. A "home-made" figure is based on torturing an existing action figure and making it into something completely different. Just re-painting it isn't enough, you have to add new features, whether they be wings and a tail, shoulder pads, or a cape. You can use any materials you wish.
This contest is different from the others, in that you must bring your entry to the convention. We will have an area set aside where the figures will be displayed and voted on. This area will have security personal in attendance, so you don't have to worry about someone stealing or breaking your figures. There will be entrys form available at the registration desk for this contest, however, there is a limit of five entries per convention attendant.
The winning participants will receive an award that is yet to be announced. For some ideas and action figure suggestions, check out our section on Home-Made Figures.
