MAMMA's Project
HELLO!!!!
This is a bit embarassing! *smile* We apologize,
especially to those of you, who have come to this section
from the Little Red Hen class of MOSAIC ART 101...we have
fallen behind in our efforts to present the 'good news....bad
news' elements of our project. We'd love to invite you in
and tell you to pull up a chair, but figuring out how to present
our project in a clear and precise manner has proven to be
quite a challenge. The truth is, we're having one heck of a time
settling on a comprehensive 'reference point'.
We all know what it's like to walk into a room
and find such a mess that we decide, then and there, to
'get to the bottom' of what caused it. Most of us are also
quite familiar with situations where we knew that the facts
of some event were NOT what was being presented and that
somebody had lied. We can all appreciate the frustration and
anger that such an event causes, especially if we don't have enough
proof to set the record straight. A claim for work done vs.
credit given jumps into mind as an example and most of the
time it's really 'no big deal'! After we figure out that there
isn't much we can do about it, we shrug our shoulders, take
a deep breath, try to forget about it and get on with our lives.
However, the death of a loved one IS a BIG DEAL! Family members
can not simply shrug their shoulders, take a deep breath (when
their loved one will never take another breath), much less try
to forget about it and simply get on with their lives!
In order for us to effectively present the implications
and ramifications of how our project relates to you,
our visitors, we need to be sure that you understand where
our perceptions originate. This is not an easy task!
Try to picture a bare foot three year old and
an adult male, in hiking boots, walking down a forest
path. When a swarm of fire ants attacks their feet, who
is going to see, and feel, them first? If they clear the
area before the ants get into the hiking boots, what are the chances
that the three year old will be able to 'explain' why such
a fuss was raised? Do you think the words 'frustrated' and
'flustered' would illustrate the child's attempts at an explanation
of the problem? Wouldn't all of that be exasperating if the
adult male kept telling everyone that he didn't know what
all the fuss was about, 'that there was nothing there and the
child must have imagined the whole thing? What do you think
would happen the next time the child saw a fire ant?
Well...right now we sort of feel like that three
year old. We've recognized the 'cause' (Failed safeguards
for 'KILLOLOGY') of the mess we walked into and we want alert
others before they get 'stuck' with the same crap. So....we'll
keep working on our presentation and try to have it ready
when you come back next time.
As long as we mentioned the 'good news....bad
news', we feel that those elements can at least be touched
on, at this time. The 'good news' comes out of a Stanford
study, where work, by Thomas N. Robinson and his team,
has shown (and we quote): 'Aggressive tendencies fostered
in children by violent television shows and video games can be tempered...'
(end quote). The 'bad news'...even places like the Hamilton
Fish National Institute on school and community violence,
where they're analyzing, developing and testing prevention
strategies to grapple with violence, don't seem willing to
remove the 'wheel cover' in their efforts to avoid a scenario
of continually (we quote) 'reinventing the wheel!' (end quote)
on this issue. We question if they have succumbed to the military's
Red Badge of Courage Syndrome.
Meanwhile, we can give you a 'heads up'!
At the bottom of this page, you will find a link labeled:
KILLOLOGY. This link will take you to the Christianity
Today site where you will find the article: "Trained to Kill'. As
you read about the research and development of 'Killology' and
how one of it's primary creators has found it in our SCHOOLS
(and our workplaces?), bear in mind....the 'safeguards' for
'Killology' have been FAILING for years!
You can find out how our project got started
by visiting the MOSAIC ART 101 class in the Little Red
Hen section...just click the link at the bottom of this
page. Until we meet again....take care and God Bless!
A
thought to ponder:
When confronted by a problem that affects society...people
who refuse to be a part of the solution become a part of
the problem.
