Kaworu comes into Evangelion just after the death of Rei Ayanami (the second clone). He was chosen by SEELE to be the replacement for Asuka Langely and was sent directly to NERV. He is referred to as the Fifth Child and he is the seventeenth and final angel. Kaworu befriends Shinji, and though Ikari feels kinda awkward around him, Kaworu and him become good friends. Some, including Hideki Anno himself, think too good friends. In any case, Kaworu pulls off what seems to be impossible, being able to adjust his sync ratio to whatever level he wants. Misato and Aoba decide to investigate and eventually stumble upon the truth. Kaworu's soul was used in the dummy plug system in the EVA-05 series. Kaworu takes controlof Unit-02 and descends to Central Dogma. Shinji is sent out after him and is screaming "You betrayed me! Just like my father!" Shinji tries to kill Kaworu but discovers his AT field is inpenetrable. Kaworu, or Tabris if you like his angel name, uses Unit-02 to occupy Shinji while he moves towards Adam. But when he gets there, he makes a shocking discovery, the angel on the cross is Lillith. Kaworu choose to let Shinji decide mankind's fate by lowering his AT field and asking Shinji to kill him. Kaworu was Shinji's best friend and worst enemy all in one body. Shinji and the EVA stood silent as it grasped Kaworu with one hand. For about a minute, we wait, and wait, and wait for something to happen, till Kaworu eventually dies as Shinji squeezes and Kaworu's head pops off. Kaworu makes a cameo appearance in EOE whenhe taunts Gendo as third impact takes place. Don't ask me why, but I just really didn't like Kaworu. I expected so much out of him from what I had heard and he didn't fulfill, though he was very intellegent. His popularity is rival to none other than Rei Ayanami.
