Maya Ibuki is one of the technical staff of NERV, along with Aoba and Makoto. She is great friends with Ritsuko Akagi and in the movies *spoiler alert* it reveals she may have harbored deeper feelings for the head of Project E. Maya despises the dummy plug system, crying when it is used to tear apart Unit-03 when Shinji refused. She is also a strong proponent of the treating the children fairly, which seldomn ever happens. Finally, Maya is a computer wizard, probably better than everyone in the series except Ritsuko Akagi.
