IRC

Among the other passions in my life is chatting on the Quarterdeck irc server. IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat a method of talking on the Internet in real time (lag permitting) with people all over the world. In order to be able to chat on IRC, you need to download an IRC client. Many are available for both the MAC and PC. I have included links to sites where you can download IRCLE and Globalchat for the MAC and also MIRC and Globalchat for the PC.

I began on IRC back when I first got my Macintosh in the spring of 1996 and found it came with eWorld, Apple's online enviroment. Former eWorld-ers will recognize that the spring of 1996 was also when eWorld went offline. When that happened we were directed to Talkcity at chat.talkcity.com which is mostly staffed (or was in the beginning)by former eWorld-ers. This IRC server is growing all the time with chats and conferences on all kinds of subjects. The server is regulated , with CCC's available to help keep order and to give out help and advice. The server hosts a number of trivia games which is where I spend most of my time when I am there. Information on the server can be found at Talkcity their page is constantly updated.

These days I can usually be found on Ichat as a channel Operator under the nick JAYNE (original, huh?>. If you decide to stop by make sure to say Hi. There are some Great people on there who gave me a lot of support during some difficult times. I also met Frank aka RAISTLINŠ there which made it a very special place and proves that good relationships can be born on the net.
