I have found a new weapon and I am going to talk about it. You won't believe this one until you get a chance to shoot it, but it is great. |

| Last year I walked into my favorite gun shop, Plainfield Shooting supply and Bob had a display of another AR-15 on the counter. Being retired Army, I didn't pay much attention to it until I started walking toward the muzzle. "Holy crap, what is that?" Bob just laughed and said it is an Alexander Arms 50 Beowulf. A what? A 50 caliber, AR-15!!!!!!!!!!!! | ||
| The lower is a standard AR-15 lower. The upper has
been worked to allow the 7.62x39 bolt to work in harmony with 50 caliber round.
The round has a rebated rim to fit the bolt. There is no ejection port cover. I
don't know why yet, but there is none. The recoil is modest. Some people I have
talked with have complained that the recoil is heavy, but they must have had
their panties on that day. It is about like shooting a 20 gauge shotgun. It is
a kick in the pants. It comes as a flat top, so when it came in, I attached a HoloSight to it. What a wedding. They were meant for each other. Of course I have a HoloSight on another 50 of mine, the Desert Eagle. |
||
| The standard, unaltered M-15/16 mags work in this
gem. The only problem is that you will only get about 7 rounds in a 20 mag. I
did get 13 rounds in a 40 round mag. This thing is great. Factory ammo is available in two different weights and three different bullets. There are bullets available. All of the bullets manufactured for the 50 AE and the 500 S&W Mag will work. The 50 Beowulf bears a stricking similarity to the 500 S&W. |
||
| OK, now for the ONLY complaint about this sweety.
Someone is a sadist. You should NEVER try to shoot this thing without something
covering your shoulder. The butt plate is VERRRRRRRY pointed and painful. With
a shirt or jacket, no problem. Damn that thing hurt the first time I shot it. I
had rolled up my sleeves for some serious shooting, I felt like I got hit with
a fistfull of nails. I remember our butt plates being smooth or slightly
checkered. Not this, it will flat dig in for traction. If you ever get the chance to use one of these, take it. You won't be sorry. If you are ever in Indianapolis and want to try this one, drop me an email or give me a call and we will work it out. This is a great Home Defense weapon. By the way, the Coast Guard has even ordered this little beauty. Have a great day and Happy Shooting. |
