Let's talk about television coverage of elections and election policies. I recently sent a letter to my Senators and Congress person about the travesty that occurred election night. I asked if it would be possible to not broadcast returns until the last polls closed. I also made a comment about not broadcasting the elections at all. Let the news report the results at 10 or 11 and be done with it. |

To my surprise, one of my Senators replied. His letter was cordial and to the point. Basically I was told that the "hill" is considering making election day a Federal Holiday. OK, now we have given everyone the opportunity to take a four day holiday at the expense of one day. That's a great idea, but what happens when everyone heads out of town and nobody is left to vote? |

I was also told that the government could not tell the media what to broadcast because that would be an infringement of their first amendment rights. Tell me. What is more important, give the people the information they want or provide a living for a bunch of bullies calling themselves journalists? Bullshit. They "report" the elections and even the news the way they want it, not necessarily the way it is. |

Just think, we all want to sit in front of the idiot box and be lied to about election returns instead of being entertained by programming dealing with homosexual activities, violence, crime and drugs. Why would we want good clean funny entertainment? |
