The Rose
It was on one Christmas Eve
When I was all alone
Just waiting for Santa again
His visit to my home.
But as the night grew longer,
Santa, He never came.
I awakened to see a sprit with me
But he did not tell his name.
Chills filled me all over
For he was shrouded by holy light
He said he brought me Christmas
As a thief in the night.
My eyes could hardly look upon him
He held his hand out to me
"Come by the fireplace, my son.
I'll show you eternity."
And as I looked, I saw it!
And tears were in my eyes
He told me,"I came for you,
For soon, you must die."
"But I'll let you live a little longer
To tell all that you may see
That I'm the true Father of Christmas
The gift is eternity."
And then he handed me a rose
He said,"I love you too.
This represents my son's soon return
A rose that died for you."
God told me,"He's coming back quickly.
Tell all that you may know.
I leave you now with these gifts of love
To heaven I must go!"
When mourning came, I awakened again
The Saviors rose was by my side
God, He gave me the greatest Christmas of all
With God I'll soon abide.
Santa Claus brings worldly gifts
God gives eternity
God granted that I write this poem
He gave the rose to me
God gave the rose to me.
