To the members of those lost
Upon the USS Cole
Thanks for standing for freedom still
Your sailors played a role
There is a war, though not declared
A war exists today
That war is between two rivals
And all that stands in their way
And men may fall in the battle
As the war continues, you see
A war with unspoken words and men
And A battle to be free
America is always at war it seems
Protecting the red, white, and blue
To you, today, I give my thanks
This poem I write to you
With valor these sailors have now died
With sacrifice to this land in their soul
With love of freedom and God up above
They'll be there on heaven's roll
