This poem was originally written many years ago. When I wrote this poem I was very upset. I had been in a relationship with a girl who seemed only to hurt me and slaughter my spirit. I wrote this poem and then considered my life. I considered how God gives us faith to endure. I considered that I would not always be hurt this way. I bore an internal cross that day. I came to realize that it was only a test. That God presents us with tests all our life, tests to see if we can "overcome" the negatives. I sustained. I held out that there was confidence in the cross of Jesus Christ. I knew that he endured his cross that day, surely I could endure all the crosses of this life. This poem is for all that feel negative at times and overcome, even suicidal desires. I pray all that identify with this poem will realize, "God is a God of mercy and love," God never places more upon us than we can handle. May this poem and this writing serve to give you hope.
