DAY 13: TUESDAY, AUGUST 30th
Fair and cloudless,- westerly breeze. Steps awakened us at an early hour, and Fred, peering under the tent, discovered a woodchuck
not ten feet away. He fired, and thought he had hit him, but no trace of him is evident this morning.
We never woke up until eleven, and had breakfast
at twelve. No more moonlight tracking for ours. Fred has a headache. Think we shall start for Sweeney carry as soon as I can get him to help pack- - - - - - - - - Packed up at 1:30, and at
1:45 paddled one mile over to the Waubeek, only to find no one available to drive us over the Sweeney carry, so telephoned (15) to Axton and found could get conveyance to that place from Rustic Lodge.
