INTRODUCTION
by Borden David Mills
99 years ago, my Great-Grandfather and namesake,
Borden Hicks Mills (1879-1970), took a canoe trip from Old Forge, New York at the northern-most crest of the Herkimer County foothills, to Big Tupper Lake,
in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. With him he brought his long-time friend, Frederick "Fritz" Guardineer-- a fellow law student and camping "greenhorn" like himself.
Ever the meticulous documentarian, he decided to keep a daily journal throughout the journey which I, Borden David Mills,
have decided to publish online for his descendants and any others that might find his
humble outdoor adventures of interest.
