DAY 2: FRIDAY, AUGUST 19th (Continued)

Walked back to Ridgewood for dinner at one o'clock. Tried to get away immediately afterwards, but didn't actually get on the water until three.

We paddled four miles up to the inlet, with a slight breeze at our backs, stripped to our jerseys. Fourth Lake is a noble body of water, but there are too many camps to be really "woodsy". At Inlet there is quite a settlement of hotels and camps. Having left one of our tin-cups or "mugs" as Fritz insists upon calling them, on Leggett's dock, we bought a quart measure here, and a loaf of bread (.25).
