DAY 2: FRIDAY, AUGUST 19th (Continued)
Those duffle bags are great conveniences,- we would lose half our stuff were it not for them.
We had supper by candle-light,- eight o'clock,- bacon and eggs, bread, and coffee. Will wash the dishes
in the morning. Too d--- dark (for dark read "tired") to do it now.
We are sprawled out here on our blankets, with our aluminum lantern slung to the ridge pole (I mean "ridge-rope") scrawling the diary of the past two days.
Will be dead to the world in fifteen minutes.
The fish are jumping in the lake. Think we will try them before breakfast. If I can read this when I come to copy it, 'twill be a wonder.
Think we may get to Blue Mountain in the morning, but don't give a d--- whether we do or not. Turned in at nine o'clock.
Distance today,- 10 miles.
