DAY 6: TUESDAY, AUGUST 23rd (Continued)

It has been an ideal day, with hardly a cloud in the sky, and it is a more than ideal night,- starlight, and a full moon. This is camping. Supper at seven-thirty,- graham crackers, blue-berries and milk, and tea,- latter are thicker than hops here,- the blueberries, I mean, not the milk, or the tea. Fred wrote his diary by moonlight and firelight combined, but my eyes were not quite good enough for that romantic (or rheumatic) procedure, and a candle does for mine.

We came from Blue Mountain to Long Lake today,- which is twenty eight miles by water,- but we rode not rowed. There's some difference in the way you spell it. We think we will fish in the morning before starting. Also think we will stop at Long Lake Village and look up Andrew Hanmer, of our law-school class. I only wish all days in camp were like this has been. Bed nine, or thereabouts, not very tired, but very, very happy.

Distance today,- 12 miles.
