DAY 9: FRIDAY, AUGUST 26th (Continued)
Got under way again at eleven, and were at Raquette Falls carry before we knew it, at 12:30. Carried around (1 3/4 miles) in an hour and a half,
trail wandering and hilly, but shady. Bought some bread from the man who carts boats around the falls and keeps the "carry-house" one loaf, for the modest sum of 25c. Inquired for eggs and pie, but they couldn't spare any.
At the rate they charged for the former, I'm rather glad the latter were not obtainable.
From here down I paddled, and Fred trolled,- with no luck. Wind gradually went down, and the clouds, which were rather thick in the early morning, disappeared, leaving a fleecy blue sky, with a dancing breeze.
