You see I don't know about the Herd/Hurd side but you got me through: Peter Jarvis/Mary Elizabeth Cobb son Nathan Jarvis who married Nancy Grey Cole, Their son John Calvin Jarvis married Annie C Russel which is a story in itself. their daugher Effie Jarvis married William Hamilton Albertson who served in the Spanish American war. Their daughter Maggie married Tamer Herd. Their son Earl Herd is my father he served in Korea who married Judith Elizabeth Fellers. John and his family came to MO in the mid 1830's and some of their descendents have been here in what is now Webster Co. ever since. Junior, I met you at your shop in 1977. At the time, you invited me in and offered me something to drink. While we chatted, you "whittled" a carving which you signed (carved your name into the bottom) and gave to me. I also have a photograph of you and I in front of your shop. I still have the carving and tell the story of how I got lost looking for you and by accident turned into the clearing of your shop. My meeting with you that day is one of my fondest memories of all the travels I've made. I was sorry to hear about your stroke and its side effects. I hope you are in good health otherwise.
