DECISION MAKING

The sections of the organization and their duties were explained above. In this section these sections examined according to their roles in the decision making process in the organization.

General Assembly: General Assembly holds all the election authority on the hand. Besides making changes in the charter and querying the activities of the Board of Directors are duties of the General Assembly. All the members of the Alumni Society of the Faculty of Political Sciences are also members of General Assembly that means there is a direct democracy rather than the delegation system. Members of the organization believe that this method fits the characteristic of the organization   better. However up to day maximum 900 members out of 9000 take place in the General Assemblies. There are two types of general assemblies, Normal and Financial. In normal General Assembly elects seven members for the Board of Directors, two members for Foundation's Board of Directors, 5 members for Honorary Board. In the financial General Assembly the income statement and the balance sheet of the organization is examined and the Board of Directors is either acquitted or not.

Board of Directors: All the execution decisions are made by Board of Directors. Short, middle and long-term plans, financial decisions, operational decisions are some examples of execution decision. President of the Board of Directors has a great authority since he/she is the president of both Foundation and Association. 

Honorary Board: Honorary Board is actually a discipline committee, which decides the penalties for member, which has unsuitable behavior. The punishments may be warning, disapproval, short-term suspension and even terminate the membership. There have been some problems in this process due to political reasons and there have been two membership terminating decision in the past.

Board of Auditors: Board of Auditors resembles a senate however it is not effective as a senate. It is mainly responsible for supervising the actions of the Board of Directors and takes necessary precautions such as warning the Board of Directors or call up a General Assembly. 

Foundation of Alumni Society of the Faculty of Political Sciences' Board of Directors:  Foundation's Board of Directors is responsible for scholarships, rewarding and publishing decisions. An example may be a rewarding. A person who decides for giving a reward in the name of his/her, applies to Foundation's Board of Directors. Foundation's Board of Directors identifies the characteristic of the reward and checks for financial resources of the reward and decides whether this reward is appropriate for the principles of Association and either accepts or not. An example of these rewards is 'Rüstü Koray' Reward.
