King Kong

King Kong, the original 1933 classic about a great beauty and an even greater beast, has been restored, digitally remastered and is now available for pre-order on DVD. Fay Wray stars as Ann Darrow, a woman who finds herself on the mysterious Skull Island, where she becomes the object of affection for a colossal gorilla named Kong -- just as colossal as the footprint that this film left on the history of cinema. This two-disc collector's edition DVD has commentary by stop-motion magi Ray Harryhausen and Ken Ralston, with interpolated interview excerpts by director Merian C. Cooper and Fay Wray and some restored scenes. It also has numerous featurettes including "I'm Kong: The Exploits of Merian C. Cooper," and "RKO Production 601: The Making of Kong, Eighth Wonder of the World" an eight part documentary including "The Origins of 'King Kong'" and the famous "Mystery of the Lost Spider Pit Sequence."
