 The
much-anticipated followup to Michaelangelo Antonioni's
revolutionary 1966 masterpiece Blow-Up, 1970's Zabriskie
Point was the Italian director's vision of the Western society at war with
itself. The movie had an incredible rock soundtrack sank along with it.
Now, after almost 30 years, Turner/Rhino refloats the long-sought-after original
soundtrack plus nearly an hour of previously unreleased outtakes, along with new liner
notes, in one provocative 2-disc package.
Disc 1 features the CD debut of
the original 1970 soundtrack album - 11 tracks by an eclectic bunch of artists from Pink
Floyd and The Grateful Dead to pop siren Patti Page
to brilliant guitarist John Fahey to ethnic folk-rock fusion
band Kaleidoscope and folk-rockers The
Youngbloods to hillbilly singer Roscoe Holcomb.
Disc 2 gathers nearly an hour of
music created for the film, but never used or released! You get four by Pink Floyd
-- "Country Song" (5:55), "The Unknown Song" (7:17), "Love Scene
- Version 4" (6:50), and "Love Scene - Version 6 (7:20)"- and four outtake
versions of "Love Scene" by Jerry Garcia and The Dead
(totalling 32:00)! |
