- T - DVD Terminator 3 - Rises of the Machines Terminator to the extreme! With "Governator" Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Total Recall Based on the writings of Philip K. Dick, Total Recall
is certainly one of "Arnies" greatest films along
with Terminator
and End
of Days. Making only a partial transition from stage to screen is Clare Peploe's 2001 version of The Triumph of Love, a classic example of Restoration comedy by French playwright Pierre Marivaux. While the film faithfully follows Marivaux's plot and script, it also maintains a jarring residue of staginess, creating the curious feeling of a story stuck somewhere between a sprawling 18th century French country estate and a modern theatre. Holding these two worlds together is the charismatic performance of Mira Sorvino who, as the Princess, feels that her rule is a sham, as her throne was inherited from a father that deposed the proper king. When she learns that Agis (Jay Rodan), the son of that ruler, is alive and in hiding, she searches for and finally spies him bathing in the woods, and is immediately smitten. Determined to return the rightful heir to power by marrying him, she and her maid Corine (Rachael Stirling) disguise themselves as young men to circumvent the philosophers who guard Agis and poison his mind against all emotions and all women, especially the princess herself. The Princess decides that to best overcome Agis' preconceptions and win his love, she must employ every ounce of her intellect, charm and energy to simultaneously woo him, as well his proud philosopher guardians Hermocrates (Ben Kingsley) and Leontine (Fiona Shaw). Sorvino relies on her considerable talent and her winning grin to keep all of the balls of this theatrical juggling act in the air, and in doing so manages to envelope the audience in the breathless, confident, honor-driven world she creates. Spielberg presents: Taken A glorious mini-series! The idea to depart from a well known historical event - the Roswell case in 1947 - and to relate this to the story of three families, spanning more than three generations and more than 50 years of American history, is simply great.

Martin Scorsese'sTaxi Driver With Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster, Harvey Kietel, Peter Boyle, Cybil Shepherd. One of the most vivid and powerful films of all time. This new special edition DVD is superb, containing a 90 minute documentary on the making of the film that includes interviews with many of the cast and crew (Scorsese, De Niro, Jodie Foster, Peter Boyle, Albert Brooks, Paul Schraeder, makeup man Dick Smith, and Elmer Bernstein, standing in for Herrmann). Highly recommended!
An underrated film! If you haven't seen Three Kings then you'd better hop to it. This film tells a great story of the children of the media who must ultimately face the fact that war is not the romantic adventure they tought it was. This film has some great camera work, direction, and story.
