"Who is Keyser Söze?"
A masterpiece of a movie. Following a bloody shoot-out aboard a ship moored at a Santa Monica pier, the police question a hood by the name of Verbal Kint in an attempt to learn about what happened. We see several different possibilities and the final answer we get is a real surprise.
Kevin Spacey deservedly won an Oscar for his portrayal of Verbal Kint, the club-footed con artist who gets mixed up with a gang of hardened felons - delightfully played Gabriel Byrne, Stephen Baldwin, Kevin Pollak, and Benicio Del Toro.

Urbania

Did you ever hear the one about the poodle in the microwave? Or the hotel burglars and the tourist's toothbrush? Or that crazy one about the guy who wakes up to find one of his kidneys missing? Urban legends are the stuff of comedy - and tragedy - in Jon Shear's Urbania, a haunting, powerful meditation on grief, memory, and the way that fantasy can sometimes feel more, well, real than reality. The anxiety-ridden Charlie (Dan Futterman, in an amazing performance) wanders through the streets of New York, occasionally running into strangers and friends, distracting them - and himself - with various tall tales that sometimes result in a laugh, sometimes in a fight. The film comes to feel almost as pointless as Charlie's ramblings, until it becomes clear that the focal point of Charlie's thoughts is the handsome Chris (Matt Keeslar), a man who may or may not have broken up with him. But what exactly has caused Charlie to fall into near-delirium? Based on a play by Daniel Reitz, you can see Urbania's theatrical, neatly-formed vignettes unfolding right in front of you, but you'll be floored by the accumulated punch they have as Charlie's anxiety becomes more palpable, and the source of his grief is finally revealed.

                 Unbreakable Unbreakable (Vista Series)

With Bruce Willis

After doing the Sixth Sense, director M. Night Shyamalan really shined with Unbreakable (Vista Series). This film was often missunderstood but it is in fact a great blend of acting, story, cinematography, and direction.

        The Usual Suspects

Starring: Kevin Spacey, Stephen Baldwin, Gabriel Byrne, Kevin Pollak, Benicio Del Toro
Director: Bryan Singer

                          NTSC format

"Five criminals of slightly different stripes are busted and put in a police lineup for a crime they didn't commit. They soon discover that fate--and perhaps more earthly forces--brought them together. Terrific cast makes the most of Christopher McQuarrie's intriguing, Oscar-winning, but convoluted script." (Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide)

The acting is fabulous, the screenplay so complex that it leaves the viewer in awe. As one actor said himself (although about a different film) the pyrotechnics are emotional. The whole cast is amazing although Kevin Spacey stands out above all others. The ending is one of the most shocking you will ever see, and you will think about it for days after you see it.
