Plot:
We see the St. Louis Arch. And the credits start to roll. When the star is recognized as a 4 time world kickboxing champion, you should take that as a warning sign. At least the Don "The Dragon" Wilson movies never list his martial arts credentials from what I remember. I think in this movie they do that so we think it will actually be a good martial art fighting movie....Back to the movie. Cars are going down the street.
The box gave the name as Death Kick.
And this just is another warning sign.
In a dingy place, 3 women and a couple of guys are going over the plan to kidnap the lawyer, Adrian Lane. Some rigmarole excuse for why nobody will bother the warehouse they'll use. Pay $50,000 to get into the game. Everyone here has put up the money for the right to have their chosen fighter beat the lawyer. 2 of the women leave. The last one sort of has the big sister vibe about her. Rob has to convince her that Lane must pay for the death of her parents. She also has to seduce the lawyer. Ooohtaay...
From the other guy at the meeting, Teal, we learn that Adrian Lane is a tough man. He cross trains, runs marathons, and does triathlons. He has a mental toughness. Lane doesn't realize how much of a fighter he truly is. By the way, Teal is the 4 time world kickboxing champion.
A truck pulls up at a house. A red sports car follows it. The lawyer, Adrian Lane, walks up to the truck. Teal manages to hit him from behind. They tie Lane up which is the first time in this movie it happens. I mention this because it happens a lot.
Teal puts him in the back of the truck. Drive away. To a generic action rock song, they drive. Finally, get to the warehouse. Drag him in and retie him again.
Teal has the right idea. Just kill the sucker...Bust a cap into the lawyer. He won't be habean any more just corpsin. That’s a bad lawyer joke, if you think I mistyped something in the last sentence. Teal keeps giving the "This guy's good" speech. Rob is all about making Lane suffer. Inject Lane with something.
Lane awakens to Rob's smiling face. We get to hear the entire plan. Old clients want revenge. They have paid for the opportunity to have fighters beat Lane. Somehow, I'm getting the vibe that Rob is like an evil game show host. By the way, the guy in the blue is our "hero". He is never vaguely heroic...
They bring out a table saw right in front of Lane. We get some innuendo between Rob and the first client. Alexandria has waited for 5 years. She starts playing with the table saw to unnerve Lane.
Lane is now spread eagle on the floor. Alexandria is upset that she lost custody of her son. Never mind the fact, she was a coke fiend at the time and broke his arm. Lane tries to convince her to let him go, which is unsuccessful. The only thing Lane does more than be tied up is ask to be let go.
Alex has her switchblade out. The clients are supposed to have weapons. She has the "I've got a weapon and I'm not quite sane" look in her eyes. Very mad. Then she gets happy. She has something that makes her get topless when happy. Very happy...Very, very happy...No longer so happy. Unties him.
Alex's fighters show up. 2 very tough mean looking women. Lane tries to talk them out of fighting him. No good. The women are doing a pretty good job of cleaning his clock. Somehow, he manages to fix their little red wagons. Alex is going to knife Lane until Rob stops her by giving her an injection of lead from a gun.
It's Rob's term. Lane is restrained with vises. I say that counts as being tied up again.
Rob still has the gun. Teal takes it with him. Rob gets to smack Lane around some. Apparently, Rob is angered that his wife got half of everything and his reputation was ruined. Rob's fighter, an expert with a bo, arrives. Lane is let loose to fight.
Of course, I'm angry, this movie sucks
Lane prepares. The fighter, I dub him Ryu, decides to quit using the bo after beating him with it some. Ryu uses a wrestling hold on him. Lane manages to get a hold of the bo and gives Ryu a taste of the bo. Lane gets the upper hand on Ryu. Rob is going to kill Lane. Teal has a gun on Rob. If Lane dies, Rob dies. Teal really wants to fight Lane.
Some lady walks in the room. Why, it's Tracy. Since her case, none of her old friends will give her the time of day. Good reason for revenge and Lane refused to date her. Now, that's a real good reason for revenge. Tracy plays with a power drill and a torch. Lane tries to convince her to let him go. That fails. She treats him to a fashion show which eventually treats our intrepid tied up lawyer to her being topless. That's 2 clients that want him dead and apparently are warm for his form. I should mention it now. The guy who plays the lawyer was the writer and producer of this movie. I think the guy has some issues he needs to deal with. He writes a script which has him tied up and pawed by topless women. I can't say that's a bad thing. But, who did he get the money from to make this movie? How many guys would volunteer for movies like that if they could do it?
Tracy's fighter is ready. Let's call him Al. He sort of reminds me of Al Snow.
Foley gonna tell any more jokes about my ring ability
Tracy gives him a magic white powder to make him takes away his pain and makes him strong. I guess he was given angel dust. None of Lane's blows seem to do any good. Lane uses a sleeper hold to stop Al.
Lane is tied to a chair. Rob talks to Matty, who has the big sister vibe. Lane tries to defend what he did in court. Whatever, he said embarrassed Matty's father enough to kill his wife then himself. She has to get the guilt out of her system. She tries to seduce him. By seduce, take her top off. Tears run down Lane's face. Now, Matty will help him escape. What did I miss? Not going to figure it out. She's about to untie him when Rob comes back. She's sitting in Lane's lap. It's time for Matty's fighter...
Let’s call this fighter Kurt.
Lane is untied for the fight. Not looking good for our litigator. The tables turn and Lane beats him. Teal promptly shoots Lane in the shoulder.
Lane has a noose around his neck. His hands are tied behind his back. Teal gives the "I knew you were good" speech. Why does Teal want revenge? In the divorce, Teal was too willing to give too much to his wife. Lane digs around and discovers Teal was dirty cop. Of everyone, Teal only has a valid reason. The others were coke-fiends, etc... Teal gives Lane a taste of electroshock, while Lane is still in the noose.
Teal wants to loosen up before the big fight. All the previous fighters come into the room. I think the movie was shot in one room. Back to the movie. Teal begins fighting all the previous fighters. Lane happens to be in the middle of them. Rob has a switchblade and cuts Lane out of the noose for the final fight.
Lane versus Teal. It is an understatement that Lane isn't doing well against Teal. Lane manages to get the syringe he was drugged with earlier and injects Teal, who goes out like a light.
Lane is pretty punch drunk by this point. Rob has a shotgun trained on Lane. Matty shoots Rob who gets a shot off. She shoots again. Lane was hit with Rob's stray shot. Matty helps Lane get out of there. And end of the movie.
