![]() I asked Jesus, "How much do you love me?"
Easter is one of the most Holiest times of year in the Christian faith. It is so much more than exchanging chocolate eggs and candies, more than a fluffy bunny rabbit and more than another family get-together. Easter symbolises the birth of new life ~ eternal life. And the egg is a symbol of new life. Though today, we have lost the significance of that egg, of new life, and commercialised it with chocolates and candies. Another time when families get together, and like Santa Claus, the "easter bunny" and chocolates have become the focus of the centre of this time. Easter is probably more important and more significant than Christmas, because of what it represents. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ, the newborn King. Easter is the celebration of Eternal Life. It is a time of reflection for what was the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus Christ took all our sins upon Himself and was crucified to save us, so that we may have new life ~ eternal life forever. "Jesus said to her,
To have died on the cross to save us from our sins, to be tortured, mocked, criticised, laughed at and spat upon ~ all in the name of love....that is the ultimate sacrifice. And Easter is a time when we reflect upon that, and give thanks for what was given in our places. Nowadays, we have forgotten what Easter really is for....commercailised it like Christmas and neglected the reason for this season. Although bunnies are cute, they do not lay eggs, nor have any significance to the true meaning of Easter. Christianity is something that is not popular and all that goes with it is reduced to another time of year when sales are boost. It is sad that society only thinks of Easter as a time for chokky eggs, and a long weekend away from work or school. It is more than that, and I wish you all God's blessings as you reflect upon this season. "God so loved the world
