Starfleet is a military organisation that has provided a robust uniform to its personnel throughout it's history; with the clothing neccessary to carry out tasks ranging from day-to-day duties to combat operations. Starfleet personnel carry a sense of pride in their uniforms that has descended from Federation member races' own planetary militaries.
Current Starfleet issue uniforms offer the latest in fabrics that are both comfortable and durable, and fit for a wide range of environments. This has been achieved through constant research and development to try to ensure Starfleet personnel are prepared for whatever they might meet in the depths of space.
With the onset of threats from the Borg and the Dominion, Starfleet's uniforms have developed into more militaristic and darker reflections of the times in which they are worn. No longer are the bright colours of crimson, gold and teal readily visible targets; blacks and greys now dominate not only the uniforms but also other aspects of the Starfleet design ethos of the 2370s.
