First you need to determine the appropriate color for your magical needs. For example if you need prosperity in your life you can burn a purple candle, if you do not have a purple candle, use a white (all purpose) candle.

Then you need to clear your candle of negative energies it may have picked up along the way, and only use your candle for one purpose unless you clear it ! To clear a candle (or any magical object) picture a pure white light flowing through it until you feel it has no negativity left, or you can place it in sea salt until you feel it is cleared.

Some practitioners prefer to Inscribe and Dress the candles they are working with. If you don't have time for this type of spell, it's okay to omit this step. But if you wish to use these last steps, this is how it is done.

Inscribing a Candle: Use your Athame (magical knife) which has been cleared and empowered. To draw something to you, write from the top of the candle to the middle, and then from the bottom to the middle. To repel things, write from the middle of the candle to the ends.

HEATING YOUR ATHAME WILL HELP MAKE WRITING EASIER.

Dressing a Candle: Involves the use of oils. The same principle applies as described in (INSCRIBING A CANDLE) to attract or repel objects. Use the appropriate oil for drawing what you need/want too you.

EMPOWERING: Project your thoughts (magical intent) into whatever you are using to empower it, candles, athame, etc.

If you need to do a fast ritual you can use a Birthday candle, they burn quicker and you don't have to worry about keeping an eye on the candle for hour on end, nor do you have to waste a large candle for a ritual.

If you want a candle to represent a specific person you can inscribe his/her name on the bottom of the candle for healing or prosperity, or whatever magic you are working for them. (be sure to get thier permission before working magic for someone)

Red : Lust, Courage, Love, Power, Strength, Fast Action, Career Goals, Driving Force

GOLD : The God, Promote Winning, Power of the Male, Happiness

Silver : Dreams, Guidence, Telepathy, Clairvoyance, Intuition, Astral Energy, Female Energy, The Goddess

Yellow : Concentration, Mental Powers, Intelligence, The Sun, To Accelerate Learning, To Break Mental Blocks

Pink : Romance, Passion, Love, Nurturing, Planetary Good Will, Caring

Blue : Wisdom, Calmness, Good Fortune, Opening Blocked Communication, Spiritual Inspiration

White : Higher Self, Peace, Virginity, Stopping Gossip, Purity, Guidence, Affection, Caring (substitutes any other color)

Green : Luck, Monetary Success, Growth, Physical Healing, Mother Earth, Tree and Plant Magic, Personal Goals, Growth

Orange : General Success, Property Deals, Legal Matters, Justice, Selling

Black : Banishing, Binding, Repelling Negativity, Shapeshifting, Protection

Purple : Prosperity, Justice, Spiritual Power, Ambition, Third Eye, Hidden Knowledge, To influence People in High Places
