TEACHING OUR CHILDREN
As Pagans we want our children to grow up as responsible, honest, intelligent, helpful, loving adults. Who doesn't? These are common values of our culture.
But we as Pagan Parents can awaken an awareness within our children, that otherwise might not manifest itself.
Children learn best by parental example and discovering by doing. The more fully you live a Pagan life, the more your children will want to as well.
Clothes:If you have the means, take your child shopping for his/her own clothes or supplies. For those on a Budget, the local Thrift Store can provide many of the tools or supplies your child may use in magic.
Help them paint or sew magical symbols, animal totems, etc. on thier alter cloth or magic robe/clothing. For smaller children a plastic knife that can be painted, and used as an anthme, also use a plastic or metal chalis/goblet for ritual wine (grape juice).
Clearing Objects: To clear an object, visualize a pure white light flowing through it until you feel all negativity has left. Remember to teach your children how to clear objects they bring home before painting or working with them, and to empower them. If you clear all of your tools after each ritual, they can easily be empowered the next time you are ready to use them without having to clear them first.
Alters: The purpose of an alter is to give you a personal place to focus your powers and thoughts, and release them into the universe to do your bidding. Let your children set up thier alter to suit them, after all it is thier magical space.
Meditation: There are many forms of meditation, from sitting quietly to the more active, involving chanting or dance. Don't be discouraged if your children are uncooperative. Some children hate meditation but if you show them how, you may discover some time later, that they are doing it on thier own. Plant the seed and let it grow!
