Lady For A Night
LOU DROPS HER DISGUISE IN A DISTANT TOWN AND FLIRTS WITH A MYSTERIOUS STANGER...
After a run, Lou drops by one of the other outposts but finds the station to filthy to stay in so she decides to stay in town for the night. In town, she sees a beautiful pink dress and buys it, dropping her disguise for a while. As Louise, she attracts the attentions of an Englishman name Tyler Dewitt, a insurance man who says his company handles gold shipments and army payroll. They have dinner and when he tells her he wants to see her again, she tells him she's going back with her family to Sweetwater. Tyler tries to kiss her but Lou is frightened by his desire.
On
the way back to Sweetwater, Lou finds some wounded riders of the Pony Express.
The men said they were attacked and that the money they carried was stolen
by a gang. She reports the whole thing to the Marshall before going home.
Lou tries to hide the dress before anybody sees it, but Kid walks in on
her and began asking questions. Lou becomes evasive and tells Kid she doesn't
like it when people start poking in her business.
The riders go into Sweetwater to buy some supplies for the station. Lou gets a huge surprise, however, when Tyler strolls inside Tompkins's store. She tries to hide from him and Kid notices her odd behavior.
Another cargo coach was held up, the man riding shotgun was killed and the driver shot. The driver said the gang who attacked them knew they were carrying gold.
Emma calls Lou into her house and talks about how attractive Lou is, how fine her eyes are. Worried, Lou tries to stop Emma who surprises her by saying Lou would look better in a dress. Apparently, Emma saw part of the dress hanging out Lou's bunk. She tells Lou to talk to her when she has problems and promised not to tell Teaspoon. Emma then hosts a "coming out" party for Lou so the boys could see how pretty she looks. They are all quite shocked to see their Lou look every inch a lady.
While Kid is in town picking up supplies for his ride, he sees Tyler Dewitt asking about a Louise who is a resident of Sweetwater. Mad with jealousy, Kid confronts Lou, who tells him she owes him nothing. She meets with Tyler to tell him she could never see him again because he is engaged to be married. But used to getting his own way, Tyler swears he'll get her.
It turns out that Tyler is the head of the gang of bandits who are attacking the Pony Express coaches. Being an insurance man, he provides them with schedules and destinations of the valuable cargo. He denies knowing about anything though, when Marshall Cain asks for his help. When Marshall mentioned this to the riders, Lou realized Tyler was lying because he told her before that only he was privy to information like that.
Lou breaks into Tyler Dewitt's bedroom and is caught. Emma realizes Lou is in trouble and sends the Kid after her. Kid finds Lou's glasses on the floor of Dewitt's bedroom. With Marshall Cain, he goes after Lou and the bandits. During the shoot-out, Tyler escapes but Lou goes after him and kills him. She later tells Kid that she owes him a lot and they kiss.
