GARAGE
Store bags of potting soil, fertilizers, birdseed and other dry garden materials in a plastic trash can with wheels.

Hang bicycles on wall hooks to save space and protect tires.

Mount ceiling racks to stow seasonal equipment like fishing poles, sporting goods and folding lawn chairs.

Install a Peg-Board to organize tools and garden implements.
Have your lawn mower cleaned or serviced.

Toss all paint- or oil-stained rags.

Spread cat litter on oil spots. Grind it into the stain with your foot for better absorption. Sweep garage, then hose down.

Remove cobwebs and inspect for signs of rodent or pest infestation.

Apply a thin coating of oil to metal tool parts to protect from moisture and rust.
Replace the welcome mat.

Repaint the door to the house in a favorite color. Polish or replace the kickplate.

Put a bench by the entry to make muddy shoe removal easier. Add cushions for comfort.
DECEMBER
PLAYROOM
Use low shelves wherever possible to make it easier for kids to put away toys.

Store toys with small or sharp parts on high shelves out of reach for small children.

Take advantage of back-of-door space with hanging storage bags.
Rotate toys. Store some in the basement or attic. Swap every few months.

Shake out rugs, and spot-check for stains. Steam-clean carpet.

Fit casters on big toy boxes so moving heavier toys is kid-friendly. Spruce It Up
Pick small prints or patterns that help camouflage stains and dirt for pillows, chairs or window-seat coverings.

Hang a plywood wall panel painted with blackboard paint for doodling.

Paint a wall mural. If you arent artistic try an iron-on scene in a theme the kids will love.
