Ronabee Chua finally went home last May 17th , after more than three months of touring the USA and Canada. Her first stop, when she started her vacation last February, was in LA where a mini reunion was held. Aside from Rona and the LA residents, only Grace Sillos, from Chicago Bulls, was able to make it to the reunion. They both promised to come back in April but only Rona was able to make it back.

Last April 24th , Bernard Santos and his wife Marivic hosted a dinner for Rona. Art Caoile came with his spouse Mia and their daughter Kassie. Ronald and Francisca Elefante also came with their kids Andrew and Rienne. Higee was also there with his .....back pack. There was a lot of Kodakan so watch out because you’ll be seeing a lot of these people in the next issues of Dimension.

The next day, everybody except for Marivic, Art and family, went to visit Mrs. Pacita Alejo, our former teacher. After a sumptuous lunch of Inihaw (anyhow), more Kodakan.

On May 1st it was Higee’s turn to bring Rona to the movies. They went to Universal Studios so Rona could experience the THX sound (makalaglag tutuli) of the movie "Volcano". Rona was able to watch two and a half movies and was raring for more. Unfortunately Higee, whose usual minimum is five movies, had to go to work.

The following weekend, Rona, Higee, Iska, Ronald, and their kids went to San Diego where Iska’s brother, Ony, lives. That part of San Diego is only 30 minutes away from the Mexican border and there were plans to visit Mexico. Unfortunately Rona’s visa had expired and there was no guarantee she would be allowed back if she went to Mexico. She didn’t want to take the risk of staying in Mexico for the rest of her vacation (shades of the commercial, "Ibalik n’yo ko sa Pilipinas!") so everybody stayed in San Diego.

That night, to while away the time, Ronald, Rona, Higee and Arlene, Moises Galo’s sister and Iska’s sister-in-law, played Pai-gow. Instead of playing for money, they used the pennies on the table left from a previous game. It was agreed that the first person to lose his pennies was going to be subjected to Pitik B__ag. After more than three hours of rigorous playing, Ronald finally lost all his penis (typo). Fortunately for him, Rona forfeited her prize when she didn’t claim it within the allotted time.

A Reunion Presentiment
In six months, we will gather back in Santiago, where our journeys in life began, to bring together a myriad of experiences. It is a much-awaited social gathering. Those of us based here in the U.S. recently held our own mini-reunion in anticipation of the big one, as well as to entertain Ronabee.

There’s about 5% of our batch now residing in the U.S., 50% are in Southern California, yet, the average get-together has been once every two and a half years. Being the host of the February meeting, I was apprehensive of an assembly of people from different walks of life but whose pasts have one thing in common, the Salettinian spirit.

The reunion in Paramount was a success (see Dimension issue 12). What started out as a collective effort to entertain a mutual acquaintance has somehow formed stronger bonds. The effects have lasted longer, some of us have formed new friendships. Ronald and Bernard, an introvert and an extrovert respectively, have turned into drinking buddies and are even sharing secrets. Higee and I, on the other hand, have a renewed enthusiasm for our project, the Dimension 1982. Although I despised (Whoa! what a harsh word) him in high school for what I thought was arrogance, I am now a vocal admirer. All four of us have spent almost every weekend together since Ronabee left. (see Higee’s article)

I hope that our grand reunion will reestablish old friendships and make new ones like we did. I just can’t wait for all the surprises!

On Wednesday, June 5, 1997, a precious little baby girl was delivered to the Hinkulow family. Fiona Cecilia Balauag Hinkulow, a gift from heaven, came earlier than proud Mom Maricel expected, weighed 6.8 pounds and measured 19 in.

How to save a choking victim

A woman goes into a restaurant in a small southern town out in the country. She orders the fried chicken and starts to eat. Eating too fast, she starts to choke on a chicken bone. Meanwhile, two country boys in the next booth noticed she was choking and get up and go over to help her. The first country boy drops his overalls and bends over, and the second country boy starts licking his butt. The woman watches these two go at it, and is totally grossed out. She pukes all over the place, dislodging the chicken bone from her throat. The country boy pulls his overalls backup and says to the other excitedly, "You're right Billy Bob, that Hind-Lick Maneuver works like a charm.

The Dishes

Steve is shopping for a new motorcycle. He finally finds one for a great price, but it's missing a seal, so whenever it rains he has to smear vaseline over the spot where the seal should be.

Anyway, his girlfriend is having him over for dinner to meet her parents. He drives his new bike to her house, where she is outside waiting for him. "No matter what happens at dinner tonight, don't say a word." She tells him, "Our family had a fight a while ago about doing dishes. We haven't done any since, but the first person to speak at dinner has to do them."

Steve sits down for dinner and it is just how she described it. Dishes are piled up to the ceiling in the kitchen, and nobody is saying a word. So Steve decides to have a little fun. He grabs his girlfriend, throws her on the table and has sex with her in front of her parents. His girlfriend is a little flustered, her dad is obviously livid, and her mom horrified when he sits back down, but no one says a word.

A few minutes later he grabs her mom, throws her on the table and does a repeat performance. Now his girlfriend is furious, her dad is boiling, and her mother is a little happier. But still there is complete silence at the table.

All of a sudden there is a loud clap of thunder, and it starts to rain. Steve remembers his motorcycle. He jumps up and grabs his jar of vaseline. Upon witnessing this, his girlfriend's father backs away from the table and screams, "OKAY, ENOUGH ALREADY, I'LL DO THE FUCKING DISHES!!"
