Reunion preparations in full swing
as reported by Malou Bayaua, Maed Colinayo & Rona Chua

Since July 17th, the Executive Committee has been meeting every other Thursday to discuss the various media to disseminate the information about our upcoming reunion.

They are very excited with the response they have received from all the different section coordinators. Their bimonthly meetings now have an average attendance of 20 and they have formed five groups to comb through every barangay to locate all batch mates and to personally invite them.

At Monchit’s birthday party on June 11, a meeting presided by Dr. Jeffrey Demano discussed the following:

-the tentative date for the reunion is December 29, 1997;
-proposed two day affair on Dec 27 for the medical mission and Dec 28 for a family day that starts at 8:30 am with a Thanksgiving mass.
- Five sections were represented and will submit a complete list of attendees from each section.
During the July 17th meeting, hosted by Ronabee Chua, a detailed budget was presented to the group by Paul and Rona. The total budget of P 128,000.00 will be raised as follows:
$1300.00 ( P 33800.00) is expected to be raised from pledges coming from U.S. based alumni,

At a meeting held on July 24th hosted by Kagawad Rey and Cecille Olay, Paul Silverio presented the list of people in the same barangay. The planned visit to the different barangays was discussed and the different groups were formed.

Another meeting was held on August 7th hosted by Kagawad Saranggaya and wife Gemma (nee Somera). It was discussed that the medical mission will be coordinated through the City Health Office c/o Paul Silverio. The idea is to adopt a barangay as the recipient of the medical services and to solicit sponsors through the pharmaceutical industry to fund the project.

The next meeting will be hosted by Mr. & Mrs. Gerry Marcelo on August 22nd. The agenda: to winnow a batch name; to gather suggestions for activities and awards for family day and alumni night; to report on the progress of the different groups; to choose possible speakers for the night.

We will give you all the details about the last three meetings as soon as we receive the minutes of the meeting.

Monchit's RP Escapades
By: Ronabee Chua

You probably heard the good news, with the help of cupids, Ige, Mandel, Maybel and lots of saling-pusa like me, we have a new love team, Monchit (a.k.a. Dr. Imelda Bautista) and Michael (a.k.a. Atty. Navarro). That’s the very latest in the love scene here in Santiago.

From the first day that Monchit arrived up to when she left, I did not have a good night’s sleep. On day one, we ate a big bowl of halo-halo special at Chow King. Then we visited Doña Maybel at her grocery after we picked up Malou from LSC. Jeffrey treated us, Ige, Michael, Monchit, Malou and I, at 456 Restaurant that night. The next day, we had a night picnic at Villa Estelita Resort, owned by the Gamit family. Norbert invited us at his videoke bungalow where James (Meimban) and Elinora (Danao) really hit it out.

The following day, Maed, Monchit, Gerry , Ige, his wife Judith, and I had dinner at the Lim’s (Mandel and Maybel) newly constructed house. It’s cute and all the walls are painted white. Not to be outdone, Ige requested for a sing-along the next night at Tasty Hut. Everybody sang their hearts out, especially all the Beatles songs. I don’t want to forget to mention the new April Boys, Ige and Mandel, who were so carefree that night. On June 9, we visited Gerry’s (Marcelo) one month old baby girl.

We had a meeting during Monchit’s birthday on June 11, where 20 of our batch mates attended. They were Paul Silverio, Jeffrey Demano, Mandel and Maybel Lim, Maed Mamuri, Gloria Atianzar, Nerissa Rombaua, Cielito Torres, Elinora Danao, Hans Biltz, Virgilio Banggot, James Meimban, Arcelio de Castillo, Gerry Marcelo, Malou Bayaua, Visitacion Inson, Ige Previ Fabros, Cecille Mangahas and I.

After a week of sleepless nights and lots of singing, Monchit headed to Manila for a week of romantic escapades before going back home to Cincinnati.

Halo-Halo Special

Congratulations to Edwin and Wennie, the baby of their dreams has just been delivered. Alyssa Joy is their third child and she came on August 6th and weighed 6.3 oz.
Ronald and kids did not take the vacation they originally planned. We will all be home for Christmas though.
Michael and Grace Andres agree that this reunion is an event of a lifetime. They have decided that Michael should not miss this opportunity. However, due to financial constraints, he will travel alone to the Philippines for the reunion. (Remember, they just bought a house and a job offer came up and they may have to go to Germany)
Does anyone have any suggestion for activities and awards? Remember that this was one of the first questions I posted in our first issue. Personally, I would like to hear silly awards given out, such as "Person with the most hair loss". (I nominate Hi-G, see his website). On a more serious note, I would like our former teachers honored and at least one award given to the "Favorite Teacher".

How about bringing together our old teams and have games of volleyball and basketball? Five years into our marriage, Ronald insisted that he played volleyball in high school but I saw none of his games and would like to see how good he says he is.

For a batch name, how about the "Purposeless Pioneers"? After all, we were the first batch with two curriculums that did not seem to serve any purpose. I still don’t understand it to this day.

There is an outstanding bet going on here. Is Sonia a member of the Delta Beta Sorority? Is her last name pronounced, Bacon as in the crispy, fatty stuff we love to have for breakfast or is it Bacon read in Pilipino-- "Bakon."
We were wondering, are there any Mass Comm. or Journalism graduates in the batch who could help us with this publication? Did Perfelia Ranchez pursue a journalism career? Embarrassing as it may seem, Higee says Maed has a degree in Mass Communications while I am very sure she took Tourism. Who’s right?
We have been informed that this publication is now widely circulated. How about dropping us a note to let us know you have read it. As always, we encourage contributions to our different columns and we are currently accepting subscription orders for all future issues.
We also heard that Girlie is a regular attendee to the bimonthly meetings and has acknowledged receipt of our publication, we’d like to hear from you. We are Iska, Ronald and Higee.
Our anniversary issue was so filled with news and tidbits that we saved some for this issue. We would like to personally thank, Malou Bayaua for her dedication to getting this reunion on the way, despite her hectic weekend schedule; Bernardo Santos for his article on Rona; Grace Sillos, Maricel Balauag and Gladys Lopez for their contributions and Edwin de Guzman for the December issue of Dimension; Flor Fernandez, Ige Agustin and Maed Colinayo for the pictures that we have used.
The Executive Committee is trying to locate Mario Macaranas. He designed and laid out our yearbook and they would like him to design our posters for this reunion. If any of you has information about him, please contact anyone of the coordinators.
We have tracked down Jerome Gaffud in New Jersey. He is currently in school to be a Certified Novell (???). He has been a family man since the age of 17, his oldest son is now 13 and he has two younger boys and a girl. So here’s one for the record of most productive alumni.
Ms. Lita Dacuycuy is in Los Angeles! We had an opportunity to meet her and will tell you more about her purpose in a subsequent issue.
We are a little disappointed that we can not afford to send color copies of the publication but those of you who have access to the Internet, please browse through Higee’s web page to view a better version of the pictures.
Congratulations to our beloved alma mater on its 46th foundation day!

Quote of the Day: "Marrying a man is like buying something you’ve been admiring for a long time in a shop window. You may love it when you get it home, but it doesn’t always go with everything else in the house."

PERSONAL AD

A woman's husband dies and after a few months, she decides she wants a new husband. She submits a classified ad as follows:
"Widow looking for a new husband. To be considered, you must conform to these three criteria.

1 - You can't beat me (as my first husband did)
2 - You can't run around on me (as my first husband did)
3 - You MUST be good in bed (as my first husband wasn't)"
A few days later, the doorbell rings. She opens the door and a man with no arms and no legs is sitting in a wheel chair.

She says "Yes. Can I help you?"

"I'm here about your ad in the paper," he responds.

"Which ad is that?" she replies.

He says, "The one looking for a husband."

She says, "Uhm, well, there were certain criteria..."

"Yes, I know. Obviously, I could never beat you... I have no arms."

"Well, yes, I see that... but there were other criteria."

"And, as you can see, I could never run around on you... I have no legs."

"Well, yes, that's true... but there was one other thing that is very important..."

"Ah, yes, well, how do you think I rang the door bell?"

ZACHARY DISEASE

A woman was very despondent over not having sex for quite some time. She was becoming agitated and worried that she might never find a mate. In hope of finding a solution to her problem, she decided that it was time to see a doctor. Looking through the phone book, she came upon a Chinese sex therapist named Dr. Chang. When the woman arrived at the doctors office she told him her symptoms.

"Take off all you crothes, an you crawl real fass away from me across the froor." She did so and crawled to the other side of the room.

Dr. Chang said, "now...you crawl real fass back to me," and she did.

Dr. Chang shook his head and said, "you haf real bad case of Zachary Disease...worst case I ever see! That why you haf sex probrem!"

The woman was completely confused and asked the doctor what Zachary Disease was.

The doctor replied "Zachary Disease...that when your face look ZACHARY rike your ass!"

The Class Directory

Our current class directory represents about 45% of the entire batch, about 35% are on our mailing list for the distribution of our monthly newsletter. We urge you to help us update this directory and hope that you would keep in touch with us or your class representatives as we draw closer to yearend.

We understand that all the previous issues of Dimension have been circulated through the ‘pass-it-on’ method of distribution. We would really appreciate it if you could give us an exact mailing address so that we can mail all correspondences to you to make sure that you’re properly informed about the upcoming reunion. It is also another way for us to gather facts and figures.

Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated. Please send your information (via snail mail) to Marilou Bayaua or (via e-mail) Francisca Torres.
