Eve Online February 14, 2001

Damn, VDE knows how to show us a good time. Not only have they posted a preview of CCP's Eve-Online, but it includes a boat-load of new screenshots. Here's a sample of what they had to say:

With the possibility for illegality present CCP have come up with a cunning way of keeping players inline. They have integrated a security system whereby each player has their own security status, which depending on their actions in the game will be modified accordingly. Your security status is important because if it falls too low then you will be restricted from various weapons or information that you might want or have a bounty placed on your head. The good news is that you can raise your security status over time by being a good space citizen or by performing voluntary service.

A rather caustic preview of Redmoon, the upcoming MM title from JC Entertainment, has just shown up over at MPOG.

While I find some of the subjects the author mentioned to be true of games in general that are in development, I find it hard to blame Redmoon for those very same faults. In my opinion, the opnions of the reviewer were a bit premature.

Action Trip has just posted a review of Verant's Star Wars: Galaxies. Here's a sample:

On the other hand, info for the timeline was revealed to some extent. The game will take place in the period of Galactic Civil War, or more precisely, after the destruction of the first Death Star and the battle of Yavin. The developers chose this specific 'Classic Era' because most of the main characters are still alive and well (personally I think they just wanted to avoid characters like Jar Jar). A lot of loyal fans will be pleased with the fact that they can interact with these characters and become important individuals in the Star Wars Universe.

You can see the rest of the preview here.
