Malachi Murray and Cecilia Gorman baptised John Joseph 1845 died
From on Tue, 18 Mar 2008

Malachi and Cecilia Murray (O'Gorman), came to Australia as assisted immigrants on 15th April 1844, travelling on the "Sea Queen" which departed from Cork on 11 Jan 1844.
Malachi was 27 and Cecilia 22. Both were from Galway and R.C. Their first child John Joseph was followed by Mary Anne in 1849. I have not been able to trace their whereabouts after the birth of their children and can find no death recorded for Malachi in other states.
In 1864 Mary Anne Murray met and married Edward Yates. Children to that marriage were:
1. Annie YATES 1865(506) - 1874 (12171) (died in Ballarat 10 yrs)
2. Elizabeth: YATES 1868 (19552) (birth index has spelling error and states Mary Anne MUNDAY instead of MURRAY)
3. Mary YATES: 1872 (11591)
Not long after Mary was baptised she walked out on Edward and took the three children with her.
By 1873 she had moved in with Patrick Carland whom she never married, and they had another 8 children.
