Even today, democracy is considered by many chaotic mob-rule, and prefer it's little brother, the republic. Many fear the "tyranny of the majority", whilst they advocate what is obviously the tyranny of a minority - that minority being the rich, the powerful, the ones with property and connections.
Millions of lives have been lost to "make the world safe for democracy". Have they succeeded? Our duty now is to create the democracy that we struggled so hard to make the world safe for.
