….the dinner at the Nile Bukhara was nice. They have a tandor oven that is seperated from the retaurant by a window, so you can actually watch them doing all the tandoori dishes. Which is quite nice. Pretty good food. Had some dal, some spinach, some aloo, tandoori chicken, masala chicken, nan, butter chicken, all pretty good. Besides the Moghul Room the best Indian I have been to in Cairo. Wooden menus. We briefly considered hitting the waiter with them in case he’s not fast enough….had some kulfi afterwards and masala tea. Everybody else thought the kulfi was gross, but I really like that stuff.
Next morning went for braekfast at yet another new place in Maadi. I should have moved when I had the chance, I knew it….Place not very comfy, food ok, coffee nice.
Off to the pool of the Nile Hilton. Nice, deep pool, good for swimming. The cabana was adequate for its purpose. Some grass around the pool, always a nice touch, not much of that to be had in Egypt. The service REALLY, REALLY SUCKED!!! Every time we wanted to order something, we had to grab hold of one of the waiters, if we could catch one….they were certainly not giving a toss if any of the clientel wanted a drink or not. And when we finally managed to place an order, it took a friggin half an hour to bring the stuff. Reason enough not to go there again. Can’t have that aggravation on my day off.
This weekend met Ji and a bunch of her new colleagues and went for dinner at the Korean in Zamalek AGAIN. They’ll start giving us a discount soon….
Work is busy-busy-busy, as always.

Now that is a bloody funny site: Mulletjunky.
Anyway, change of plan…. Anne needs to go home first on Thursday night, so I’ll just order a cab and meet her down in Maadi. Looks as if I will finally try out the food at the Nile Bukhara. I wanted to go there for dinner since I moved to Cairo, but could never be bothered to go all the way just for that. So there you go. Will stay over again at Anne’s place, in the morning there will be a cholesterol rich American breakfast and then off to the Hilton.

Oh, wow, I have had a really eventful evening since I got home…in a couch-potato-kind of way….first I called Metro supermarket and phoned through a massive shopping list. Couldn’t be bothered to go in person. Then I called the Nile Hilton and booked a cabana for Anne and me for Friday. Then I went online to quickly check my e-mails and ended up chatting to a friend for ages about RPGs (yep, that's you, Mike...) and what am I reading and what is he reading (Steve Nicholls, trilogy with Orks) and how much each of them is like Tolkien or not, whatever the case might be…. Fantasy and computer game nerds, the both of us….then called Anne to check if she is actually free on Friday and organised Thursday night, while we were at it….Now I am totally exhausted from all the sofa related action…just kidding…..
Anyway, I wish the delivery from Metro would come, I need to get out of this t-shirt, it is absolutely boiling here. We still have over 30 degrees in the evenings.
Ok, the delivery guy has just been, off to prepare some foooood….

Quiet day. Saturdays and Sundays usually are. The top management is mostly back in Israel for the weekend, so we can just do our thing in peace and quiet. I managed to catch up with some of my samples and also visit that subcontractor that I haven’t been to for a month.
At home I am the epitome of lazyness. I can’t even be bothered to go shopping. I just scavenge for whatever is left in the fridge and on the shelves and try to be creative. Ended up with a nice fried rice last night, which mainly consisted of olives, capers, chopped up Frankfurters and the rest of that chicken luncheon meat, not to forget the rest of the goat’s cheese. Plus 2 eggs, voila! No, really, it was tasty!

Went on a taste Bonanza tonight. Having a salad week…again. Basically can’t be bothered to cook, way too hot. So chopping and tossing it is. Last night green salad with goat cheese. Tonight fruit salad with goat cheese. Well, the cheese has to go…. The fruit salad consisted of fresh figs, fresh dates, apple and lemon juise. Really tasty! The sprinkles of Gin on top didn’t hurt either….
Very busy at work. David is recovering from his heart surgery, so I doubt very much that he and Liz will be back before Christmas. Last night came home at 20 to 10, the night before around 10. Tonight missed the minibus again, but still managed to get away at 6. Meir is in Alex all day tomorrow and Avi is in the UK, so my chances of getting home early are fairly good.

Anne came back from the States one day after I went on my holiday. Because she had moved to Maadi right before her break, I didn’t have her new phone number. But we eventually managed to hook up and yesterday after work I came over here for a night out. Turns out we were both too lazy to do much of anything, so we just sat on her balcony, drank a couple of beers and ordered in some Thai food. Watched ‘The Full Monty’, had some more beer and went to bed at 1. Must be the age…. Oh, there is life on the planet Earth, Anne just got up. So we should be off soon for breakfast. Would you believe it, the woman has no coffee in the house!

The first three days of work after the holiday. I survived. The gods must have been insulted by that – I came home tonight and there is no water in the house. General shoulder shrugging by house owner and boabs. Malesh. That’s Egypt. It happens. So I guess I will shower with several litres of bottled water tomorrow morning. Bummer.
I think the stewardesses on the flight from Dubai to Cairo were on something…they were disgustingly cheerful. It was almost scary. Otherwise I am dwelling on images of my holiday. Beach, water, palm trees, Happy Hour at sunset……aaaaahhhhh…..
