Warcraft III Basic Info

Ok first off, this game is called Warcraft III. It is made by Blizzard.  Ok now that we got that out of the way, I can move on. Single Player Like any other Blizzard game, but more RPG like.  For instance you will work with a hero, and expect to use him for a few missions.  It will be with all four races and you see some action with the Burning Legion.  Just like before in Stracraft/Broodwar you will be expected to do one before the other.  Just like in Starcraft, Terran showed you how to play.  There is separate and completely different missions for each, but, to keep with the story, a Human mission might be to take over an orc camp, and an Orc mission might be to protect it. Muti Player Again there will be a lot of different styles with this.  The most popular will be Battle.net.  Some others are, LAN and Modem.  Battle.net is the same with some new features.  There is Ladder, cutom maps, Use Map Setting Games, TVB, Melee.  This game, un-like Diablo, Diablo II, is a clan based game.  The servers know there is a greater number of players that flock on to Battle.net so they improved and will be improving their speed. Maps There is a wide-range in maps from low money maps, to mass money maps.  Most Blizzard made maps focus on more RTS than massing units and just click the attack to location button.  You can make your own maps and release to public.  You can use powerful triggers to create events when a unit enters or leaves an area, all with a click of a button Resources There is 2 primary resources in the game.  The first and most prized is Gold.(below)

As you can see, there is a resemblance between Warcraft II and Warcraft III.  This is still the most prized resource, and you want to have a lot of workers mine this.

Lumber is another resource in this game(left) and is also very important.  In past games you needed lumber alot, this game will be a little different.  You need less lumber than in previous games. Blizzard officials say you will spend 30% of your time gathering resources, and 70% in combat.
