Amelia Wil Tesla Seyruun |
Obsessed with justice, Amelia sets off on a quest to rid the world of evil. Of course, this leads to problems for her when she can't figure out which side is more righteous. Amelia, however, is not as shallow a character as she first might seem. Although her love for justice runs deep, her love for her companions runs deeper. Skilled at white magic and spirit shamanism. She always addresses people politely, to the point of over-formality. A very caring person. Two sides: Caring, determined, mature and loud, passionate, immature. Amelia has very strong thoughts and opinions just like Lina, but she's not as ruthless about them. Amelia, even being the Princess of Seyruun, is often described as "too righteous". When she's not making one of her many long-length justice speeches and striking poses, she's executing punishment on opposers of "justice". Still, she is good at what she does, despite constantly going overboard. When she's like this, it often adds to her reputation as "annoying", unfortunately. And, that's also the reason for the adjective "loud". I don't just mean volume, I mean feeling. When Amelia is in this state, she really doesn't care what other people think, as long as they're not ignoring her. Amelia is a skilled sorceress in her own right. While Lina is an expert at black magic and a lot of shamanism, Amelia fills the gap with her own high-level white magic skills. Additionally, she seems to match Zelgadis in terms of strength in shamanism, especially when they're casting double attacks. Amelia is very good at healing spells, so she's always useful in battle. During times of peril, Amelia is always ready with support and kind words. As in accordance with the justice side of her, Amelia will keep fighting with all of her strength. Her physical attacks are unexpectedly powerful, as shone when she concentrated a magic spell into her fists one time in Next. This stronger side of her shows through when she knows that justice speeches and poses simply won't do any good. Amelia has a very dysfunctional family. Her mother was murdered years ago by a bounty hunter, and so she has abstained from using weapons of any kind. If anyone, her father Philionel is even more passionate about justice than Amelia is, and it was from him that she got all of her justice speeches and values. Her sister Naga ran away soon after she witnessed the horrible murder, and they haven't seen each other sense. To give an idea of what else is wrong, there were TWO attempts to take over Seyruun by disposing of Philionel from other members of the family. Amelia is a mix, not especially wanting to travel or remain in one place. She's definitely not like Lina, who can never settle down. When she's not traveling with the Slayers on adventures, she's stuck back in Seyruun doing research or participating in important political matters. She definitely doesn't mind traveling so much, though, as evidenced by her usual cheerful mood on their travels. Without doubt, the person that changed the most from their first appearance would have to be Amelia. Not only was she unbelievably clumsy and seemingly even more stupid than Gourry, but she really WAS annoying, blabbering only justice speeches and falling flat on her face at every turn. It's a long way from the mature, reserved, loving individual she became, up through to the end of Slayers Try. |
