Startup/Shutdown Screens |
Be greeted with Slayers as soon as you turn on your computer! I warn you, however, if you absolutely have no idea what you're doing, installing startup/shutdown screens will probably be a lot harder than cursors and icons, because of all the different instructions for different Windows operating systems. There are three files that can be changed with startup/shutdown screens. Normally, they are located in these locations: C:\logo.sys - The startup screen C:\Windows\logow.sys - The waiting to shut down screen C:\Windows\logos.sys - The safe to shut down screen I believe that these files are applicable to Windows 95, 98, and 98 SE. If you have a different operating system (as I do), please go here for instructions. If you can't find the files on your computer, try searching your system for them, because you or someone else might have put the files somewhere else. Before setting the startup/shutdown screens, you should always save the original ones in a backup folder, unless you want to download them again from the Internet. For example, you could make a folder named "Original SS", and then put the three original files there. Basically, after downloading the files using WinZip, cut or copy the files into the appropriate folder where the original startup/shutdown screens were originally stored. The system should take care of the rest. Be warned, if you have a different operating system, you will need to rename the files you download from here to its appropriate name. You should rename the file extensions to the appropriate ones if necessary, as well; the file should still work as desired. If you still can't figure out how to set the screens, I unfortunately can't help you there, unless it's what I'm actually saying that you don't understand. ^^' That said, choose one of the six sets of startup/shutdown screens below; one for each main character. |
