Rare Info |
I'd say the title's self-explanatory. This, in my opinion, are some of the most sought-after pieces of information for Slayers fans, and some that are perhaps unknown enough that hardly anyone's ever known to look: |
1. The 5 Darkstar weapons I've seen more than 1 Slayers fan ask about this one. Some people aren't sure that all 5 weapons were mentioned in Slayers Try, some decided they definitely weren't mentioned, and a lot of fans KNEW that the weapons were mentioned- they were just too lazy to find out what they were. ^_^ Just in case there's a few devoid-of-Try-info Slayers fans out there, the dark lord Darkstar had created those 5 weapons; they could be used to seal him away. Anyway, as anyone who's watched Slayers Next or Try knows, "Gorun Nova" is the proper name for Gourry's Sword of Light. It's supposed to be the weakest of the 5 weapons from what I've heard, but I don't know for sure. Razud Mezegis is the Weapon of Light that Almace and Valgaav had at the beginning of the series. It's the Spear of Light, but looks kinda like a double-edged sword (serious references to Star Wars now. Or maybe Star Wars has serious references to Slayers! ^_^). You only need Gorun Nova and Razud Mezegis to open the gateway in order to let Darkstar into a world. I don't remember what weapons that Nezzard and Bodigar were, but it's only important that they can seal away Darkstar. Finally, Galvayra is the final weapon; the Bow of Light, and is used to ultimately destroy Darkstar when all other conditions are met. The 5 weapons must be used together to split Darkstar's power. These weapons are also known as: Gorun Nova, Which Cleaves; Razud Mezegis, Which Pierces; Nezzard, Which Gouges; Bodigar; Which Smashes; Galvayra; Which [insert a powerful violent verb here; I has no idea ^_^]. 2. The Darkstar weapons' locations were... Darkstar, after winning the battle with Volpheed, and destroying all his followers, left behind a barren wasteland and split his power into the 5 Darkstar weapons, exhausted from the destruction. Since Darkstar literally means "the one who scatters darkness" (the original Japanese name, anyway), the dark lord's power had managed to be split across the four worlds. 1 weapon remained in Dark Star's world, and that was Razud Mezegis. Nezzard was found in the dark lord Death Fog's world, and Bodigar was found in the dark lord Chaotic Blue's world (if you want to get more precise on the power of these mozaku, check out the mozaku section). Two weapons were found in Shabranigdo's world (Lina's world): Gorun Nova and Galvayra. I assume that the Overworlders had gathered the weapons from the other worlds first, and went for the world with the final weapon last. The Sword of Light (Gorun Nova), was picked up by Gourry's ancestors a long time ago, and became a family treasure; it even slayed the great beast Zanifar with one strike. Meanwhile, Galvayra was found by the Ancient Dragons. Ironically, Galvayra destroyed the Ancient Dragons even when it wasn't used against them. The Golden Dragons destroyed them out of fear that one day, the Ancient Dragons would use it; a weapon that powerful could upset the very balance of their world. Darkstar's presence had annihilated another race. The Ancient Dragons had already placed their own barrier around the final weapon so it could never be used. It was only freed centuries later when Lina's Ragna Blade broke the barrier with the Lord of Nightmares's power. 3. Information on important mozaku As almost every Slayers fan knows, Shabranigdo's other name is Ruby Eye. However, not many people knew that Shabranigdo's original Japanese name was Sekiganoh. Going on, Darkstar's "English" name is Dabranigdu, and his Japanese one is Kokusioh. Since Chaotic Blue (Soukyouh) and Death Fog (Hakumuoh) both have had no need to take on English names, only their Japanese names exist. And here's some extra info: Phibrizzo = Mei-oh; Gaav = Maryu-oh; Grausherra = Ha-oh; Dolphin = Kai-oh; Zelas = Juu-ou. 4. Information on important shinzoku (gods) For those of you wondering, yes, the names of all four of the gods in Slayers DO exist. Here's the info: Ceipheed = Sekiryushin = Flare Dragon; fought Shabranigdo Volpheed = Kokuryushin = Black Dragon; fought Darkstar (no English name) = Seiryushin = Blue Dragon; fought either Death Fog or Chaotic Blue (no English name) = Hakuryushin = White Dragon; fought either Death Fog or Chaotic Blue There's also some information on the shinzoku created by Ceipheed: Laguladia = Water Dragon King = Suiryu-oh; Ruler of the North Valubazard = Fire Dragon King = Karyu-oh; Ruler of the East Barluwin = Sky Dragon King = Tenryu-oh; Ruler of the West Lanngourt = Earth Dragon King = Chiryu-oh; Ruler of the South 5. Shabranigdo and Ceipheed's followers Just to clear something up: Shabranigdo created his followers right before he was split into 7 pieces by Ceipheed's attack. The 5 dark lords that he created have 2 purposes: 1. To cause chaos and destruction (of course). 2. To gather enough power to try and ressurect the pieces of Shabranigdo. Ceipheed created his followers right before he sank into the Sea of Chaos from exhaustion. Just as each of Shabranigdo's pieces have 1/7 of his power, each of the four that Ceipheed created have 1/4 of Ceipheed's original power. Their purposes are to: 1. Keep peace in the areas that Ceipheed assigned them to (North, South, East, West). 2. Fight on the side of the good when mozaku start a powerful plot. 6. Naga's full name There've been rumors that Amelia is really Naga's sister, and that Naga's real name is Gracia. Now how much more proof do you need? Hajime Kanzaka said himself that Naga's full name is: Gracia Ul Naga Seyruun, which means that Naga truly is royalty. 7. The Blast Sword Now this piece of information surprised me. In the novels, after the defeat of Hellmaster Phibrizzo, Gourry's Sword of Light was lost (there's no Slayers Try in the novels; the third Slayers series was only for the anime). He later found an odd-looking sword instead, and kept it. In the battle against Dynast Grausherra, Gourry withdrew the sword, and attacked Dynast. After Dynast broke the sword easily, however, another blade shone underneath, and this one serged with power. To everyone's astonishment, the legendary Blast Sword had been found. After Grausherra was defeated, more information about the sword was revealed. If it was put in a sheath, it would cut through easily when moved. If it was accidentally dropped, it would cut through the stones on which it was dropped, and might be lost. Even if the sheath was made of wood or leather or some other high-quality materal, as soon as the sword was sheathed, it would simply cut the case in half. Moreover, it would just cut through anything and everything if handled improperly, and would be far too dangerous. Apparently, the previous owner of this legendary sword knew that, and so covered the Blast Sword's blade with another blade. The sword was so sharp that it was useless, so Milgazia drew a pattern on it, which made it dull enough that it could be used. The Blast Sword can absorb magical energy around it, and channel it to its sharpness. It can cut through any material, almost every spell, and harm and even kill very high-level mozaku lords. It's probably more powerful than the Sword of Light. Supposedly this is a pic of Gourry wielding this blade (it's on a playing card): click here. 8. The Demon Blood Talismans You know those four talismans that Lina bought from Xellos? They are NOT supposed to all be red. As most Slayers fans know, they call power from the four primary mozaku of the four worlds that L-sama created. The colors are supposed to be as follows: Blue for Chaotic Blue (duh), which Lina wears on her right wrist, white for Death Fog, which Lina wears on her left wrist, red for Shabranigdo (Ruby Eye), which Lina wears under her neck, and black for Dark Star, which Lina wears on her belt. 9. Homelands Some Slayers fans know that Lina's hometown is the kingdom of Zefilia. Adding to this information, the ruler of Zefilia is a queen known to most as "The Eternal Queen". Additionally, Gourry's homeland is the Elmekia empire. 10. Xellos's Nickname According to the novel, the elves and Golden Dragons around Dragons' Peak call Xellos "The Dragon Slayer". However, Xellos doesn't like this nickname for one reason or another. 11. Alternate Storyline For those of you that don't know, instead of facing the "ultimate enemy" dragon/god/mozaku fusion of Valgaav/Volpheed/Darkness in Slayers Try, the novels tell of the battle against the third revived piece of Shabranigdo. Lina managed to kill Shabranigdo by using the power of her Demon Blood Talismans; namely, breaking them to release each Dark Lord's power. 12. The Knight of Ceipheed Luna, Lina's sister is the Knight of Ceipheed, which basically means that a part of Ceipheed exists within her, which makes her extremely powerful. She wouldn't be a match against a piece of Shabranigdo, but against Xellos, that might be a different story. She once killed a Plasma Dragon with a kitchen knife, and cut apart a Dragonslave with a normal sword. Luna is very famous with her sword as well as her magic; supposedly, it was out of spite that Lina mastered Black Magic, not wanting to be overshadowed by Luna. 13. Mozaku teleportation Mozaku actually have 2 different methods of teleporting. Since a mozaku's true body exists inside the astral plane, the first way is to draw its power back into the astral plane, making the fake physical body disappear, and then channel its energy back to the physical plane at another location, making the illusionary physical body appear once more, thus "teleportation". The other way, which is much harder, involves warping the physical space itself without going back to the astral plane. This way takes more energy, but a mozaku can take other objects/living beings with it as well, which the process is going back to the astral plane could not do. That's all for now. But I'll try my best to find more in the future. |
