Xellos Metallium |
Secretive. Mysterious. Evil. Xellos Metallium is one of the highest-ranking mozaku of all, and his strength shows it. Although he is still second to the five Dark Lords of the Slayers world, there is no other mozaku that can contend with him. But does the always-manipulating Xellos have a weak point? That... is a secret. Always in control, aware of situation, loves keeping secrets. Exceptionally strong and fast (from being a mozaku). Can cast extremely powerful spells, and also fire projectiles from his staff, although it usually isn't necessary to do so. Very loyal at keeping secrets, but only, of course, to higher-ranking mozaku. Three sides: Omnipotent, happy, manipulative and exposed, angered, showing weaknesses and serious, powerful, evil. "Expect the unexpected" is always a good motto when dealing with Xellos. He never lies, merely withholding the most important, vital information. Also, he never "operates openly" or gets involved, because he's ordered not to, unless something is put in danger that might jeopardize his "master"'s plans (namely Lina Inverse). Xellos is very good at angering people, and his mozaku ability to teleport frequently is always used at the most crucial time for his companions; he merely finds it amusing. In usual travels, Xellos is usually more reserved. He merely shows himself as a happy-looking human, and is very unobtrusive, to the point that he sometimes even hides at the sign of danger. He always has people secretly in the palm of his hand, however, and delights in revealing this once in a while. He doesn't hesitate to purposely lead people the wrong way, and was responsible for just about every single false escapade to find a Claire Bible manuscript. Of course, he knew where a full manuscript was the entire time. How convenient. It was only in Slayers Try that Xellos first showed some weakness, although there was some notable examples in Slayers Next, such as when bells fell on his head, or when Gourry announced that he knew Xellos was a mozaku all along. Although he somewhat deviated from his character those times, he didn't completely lose his cool until after he met Filia. When Xellos argues with Filia, he often loses his cool to the point of childishness, sticking out his tongue, having his eye twitch, and even pouting and refusing to go somewhere with her. Ah, well; everyone has a weakness. The final example is probably Xellos's true mozaku self. It shows through when he is forced to do something that will protect the safety of his "master"'s plans, such as destroying a mozaku threatening Lina's life, or operating on some higher plan. His cruelty and his delight in others' pain shows how he really is. When battling Valgaav, for example, he laughed as he stabbed his staff into his arm, and relished in Valgaav's obvious torture. In Xellos's words, "I am a monster, after all..." If there's anyone more mysterious than Zelgadis, it would definitely be Xellos. The purple-haired mozaku that possesses both the powers of a priest and general may only show parts of himself at a time, but that's because he's only following orders... |
