Campaign Objectives

Role once to determine which mission table to use, roll one six-sided die. An even numbered roll means you will roll on Mission Objective table 1, an odd numbered roll means you should roll on the Mission Objectives table 2. Again roll one six-sided die to determine the nature of your mission. Use the following tables to determine the results.

Rolling on this table will determine the general focus of your mission. While this represents only a fraction of the possible mission objectives, it does provide a good starting point for any mission. Some combinations of mission location and objectives work better together then others; any obvious incongruities should be smoothed over by the G.M. He or she can either adapt the setting/mission to combine more smoothly, or re-roll on the tables to create a better fit.

Objectives 1   Objective 2
1 Capture   1 Investigate
2 Defend   2 Track
3 Destroy   3 Disinformation
4 Locate   4 Acquire
5 Disable   5 Smuggle
6 Infiltrate   6 Escort

Capture: The characters objective is to find and capture a known criminal, defector, spy, piece of equipment, information or other target. However targets could also be enemy scientists, engineers or someone the characters government might find valuable. While most captures are meant to be ‘live’ returns, some are wanted ‘dead or alive’, situations. Whatever the nature of the capture, the idea is to return a usable resource.

Defend: The character is charged with the defense of a given target. That target might be a person, location, and valuable piece of equipment or piece of information. Whatever the target, someone thinks enough of it to assign you to protect it. A failed mission means the item (s) has been stolen, destroyed, infiltrated or otherwise violated.

Destroy: You are charged with the task of destroying a specific target, and your mission will not end until that is done. Destroy targets can very from a large piece of enemy equipment, a prototype super weapon, or something as small as a computer disk containing critical information. Whatever the target you must completely destroy the target, ensuring there is no piece large enough or left intact that the enemy will be easily able to rebuild.

Locate: You are charged with the location of an enemy item, base, person, or item. However your mission does not end there, once you have located the target you must survive long enough to relay the information to the appropriate source. After all what good is the location if no one else knows about it.

Disable: You mission is to disable a critical piece of equipment, but not destroy it. The item you are sent to disable is to be maintained for later use or examination. Usually disable objective include enemy infrastructure items such as communications equipment, transportation hubs, bridges, roads, etc. but these items are not to be destroyed, after all if you and your allies were to take over or conquer that location you may want to use that piece of equipment or road.

Infiltrate: Your mission is a covert insertion mission. You have had a cover story placed around you and you are to infiltrate an enemy gang, crime lord’s base, rival company, or other target. The reason for your infiltration could be to collect information, or it could be to locate a person within that target. Whatever the reason you must survive long enough to report back your findings. To simply infiltrate is not enough, after all what use are you if you are dead ten minutes after successfully infiltrating?

Investigate: You are charged with the investigation of a crime, traitor, informant, research project, new recruit, etc. The nature of your investigation may take you into the line of fire or into a corporate espionage ring. Regardless of the direction of your investigation, you mission is not complete until you have reported your findings to your commanding officer or employer.

Track: You (and you team) are assigned the mission of tracking a known enemy. That enemy may be a unit from and opposing nation, a group of traitors, a caravan of refugees or even a transport of new high tech equipment. Whatever the target of you mission you must successful track, without being discovered, until you have determined the final destination. Your mission will be completed when you have reported back you findings. However tracking a target may be only the beginning of your mission. You may later have to capture, destroy or infiltrate the target you have tracked.

Disinformation: You mission is to supply disinformation to an enemy or rival. That may mean infiltration a gang or enemy team/encampment and inserting the disinformation directly. Or you may be instructed to fight a brave battle but allow a key piece of equipment containing the disinformation to fall into enemy hands. Whatever the nature you must ensure the disinformation gets back to the appropriate source, as well as making sure that info is believed. This may mean sacrificing a key resource to make the disinformation look authentic.

Smuggle: You are forced/chosen to smuggle information/personnel/equipment/items into or out of enemy held territory. That may include industrial espionage with the theft or key information. Or it may mean you have to smuggle out a double agent out of enemy territory. The successful conclusion of the mission will be the safe return of the smuggled item to the person who contracted/command you to get it.

Acquire: You must, by any means necessary, acquire information or resources of a specific nature. You may have to get medicine for an injured comrade, or perhaps key technical schematics for a piece of equipment. The successful conclusion of the mission will come when the acquired target is passed onto the appropriate hands.

Escort: You (and your team) are charged with the protection and escort of an important person or item through a dangerous area. You may have to escort a VIP through enemy territory to a key negotiation, or you are assigned bodyguard detail to the general’s daughter. Whatever the mission, if the person or item you are assigned to escort is captured or destroyed by enemy hands you will have to answer for your failure. That may mean answering to Crime Lord or military Generals to Heads of State and Corporate Presidents.
