Skyline: A hot air balloon passes over the skyline.Plot: Frasier and Niles are being counselled by a couple's counsellor, Dr Schachter. They take it in turns to tell the story of why they're here, with each brother bending the truth a bit. Frasier is concerned that he only spends a short amount of time with each caller on his show. He and Niles decide to share a practise together, and despite Martin warning them against it, Frasier moves in. The problems begin straight away. It all starts over where a plant should go, and the brothers start bitching at each other. When Frasier sits in on one of Niles' groups, they are more interested in Frasier as he is a celebrity. Niles gets cross and he and Frasier have a screaming row, scaring off the patients and attracting the attention of Dr Schachter, who thinks he can help them. Back in the present, Dr Schachter tries an experiment - one brother stands on a box and just falls back, and the other has to catch him. This doesn't work as the Cranes keep asking things like "Is he in position?" Dr Schachter thinks this is one couple who can't be reconciled and gives up. When he's gone, Frasier and Niles make up once they realise that Dr Schachter in fact graduated from a Caribbean university….. Subtitles: Hmmm….. Trivia: This is the first episode with the hot air balloon skyline. First appearance of Mr Carr (although for some reason he isn't credited). Martin makes references to the episodes 23 "Author, Author" (where Frasier and Niles tried writing a book together) and 47 "The Innkeepers" (where Frasier and Niles tried opening a restaurant) as examples of previous failed Crane brother ventures. This episode was also the first to use the method of the same story told through different perspectives - it would be used again in Ep 104 "Perspectives On Christmas" and Ep 251 "Coots And Ladders". |
